"Beat Thang - the future of music"

It looks dope but.........who's willing to pay $1500 for this??

....maybe a while back this would have been a solid investment (like an MPC) but with damn near everybody who produces using software do you think they're a lil late with this??

Honestly, whats you're opinion?

Nobody is buying this. Is it even out yet? It lost all its hype that it had a few years ago.

I remember they came out with the VST version first but if I remember right it was full of problems.

Because of the Maschine very few are buying hardware samplers like this. At least new ones. The demand for a hardware sampler doesn't match the price range of the average intended audience.

i saw Mev from the Renegades foolin wit this.... i would never think of coppin it....

There still is a huge market of people who do not enjoy pounding on a keyboard or clicking a mouse button to make music. I would say skip the beatthang, but down the line if you plan on making a career out of producing, you are going to need an mpc. For most people, you will be more inspired to make the beats when using an MPC over software. Use an MPC WITH your software. Imho.

Not even close. I've already been there done that. The MPC is overly complicated to do simple stuff you can do in software is often impossible or requires large workarounds to do. Everybody else I know still using MPCs is now using them as a glorified midi controller which can be done for hundreds less.

Besides, the MPC's niche is sampling which is a far smaller market then most beat makers cater to; and even then some of my favorite sample producers use cheap software instead.

man, nothing beats an mpc when you samplin... i use to get down on the mpc boi!

nows i get down wif FL Studyio!!! YA BOI!!!

Fun Fact #1. You are more likely to use the Beat Thang while sitting on the toilet than while walking around tying to find what level you parked your car on.

WTF is this shit? Its a damn toy. They need to put it next to the Wii in Toys r Us. This self indulgent piece of crap.

Look get FL Studios. And if you want that old school do-it-yourself drums and sampling feel, get an mpc along with that. Much cheaper than buying a damn space box.

If you working on a tight beat and youre about to get in the car, but you dont want stop making the tight beat, I got an idea, DONT GET IN THE DAMN CAR! Sit yo ass down and finish the beat!

What would you look like walking down the street with this shit. It's not gonna be as cool as the commercial. Youre gonna look like a freakin idiot. Hell, you might even drop the shit. You could be walking down the street doing whatever with your headphones on and yo ass get bushwhacked and some thug show your little BeatThing or whatever the fck its called the ski mask way. Then yo ass looking stupid while Dallas Austin on Fruity Loops about to make another hit counting YOUR money.

I just can't take a piece of production hardware called 'Beat Thang' seriously lol

i have the vst version and some of the sounds are actually critical, would never cop the hw tho

You would buy this for the convenience factor. Every piece of equipment or Software synth or software sequencer everyone has mentioned in this thread so far has required additional aditional plugins, modules etc.

Wanna cop an MPC, there's no patches that come with it, so you need a sound source.

FLStudio? Unless you want to get laughed out of the studio you will need some decent VST's as well.

Fromthe looks of it, this thing combines everything into one convenient drum machine package, one thing Roland-MC's tried to do and Roland Mv's Failed to do conveniently. Either the sounds sucked or the interface did, pick your poison. From what I've been hearing, the sounds that come with the Beat Thang VST are top notch and to package it in something more portable and cheaper than a Fantom, or a Motif already puts it in a market of it 's own.

The only negative thing I can think of is the price. I would price it between $800 - $1000 if I was the company, being that it's still an unknown at this point, the music market and business in general is down, and it has no way for onboard sound input except pads. If it had miniature keys as well, then yeah, go ahead and charge $1500 for it. There is a market for this though. Hell, I want to cop one , and I don't even make beats like I used to anymore.

........its available @ Bestbuy so I wonder who this thing is actually targeted @......?

I really don't see how this can compete with Maschine. Especially now that Maschine is a vst host and NI claims that Komplete 8 will be 100% integrated into Maschine's software.

Maschine + Komplete 8 = $1,100

The price is the only reason why I wouldn't buy it. I'm a sucker for small portable music creation shit. But $1500 man that's an ipad studio with money left over to get swagged.

IMO a bad name doesn't kill a product bad functionality does..
