Are any of you grinding as hard as that?!!!

I tried to do that once and I made 3 beats... not fully arranged too. And then I was like how the **** did Kanye do this for 3 summers??!! he DOES deserve to do these numbers!!

So if you do do that on a daily basis, share with us your creative process, then again if you were hustling that hard i don't think you'd be on FP posting tho

5 beats that is ready to be used or 5 skeleton?

last weekend i made 15 beats, but when I listend to them yesteday only 4 was good enough for keeping. so I don't really see what gonna help making 5 beats a day?

im sure it makes you feel like you can grab the microphone from an 18 year olds mtv award speech. Also, I'm sure you learn alot. Practical work teaches more than theory no?

Making 5 beats a day is stupid. I'm positive that Kanye was exaggerating. When will you find the time to learn anything? You get better at making music by listening to music than mindlessly making 5 beats a day.

Either he was lying or them beats was shit cuz thats impossible

lol he prolly meant evry weekday, but it aint impossible tho if u jus seclude urself from distractions

I TRY to do 2 a day...I could see someone doing five a day for a three month spurt

he was sampling. not saying that is easy but he had the beats done. he just chopped and looped. he had preinspiration beforehand. now composing 5 melodies everyday for 9 months is crazy

when I have an idea for a beat, I focus on that one idea till it's done to me and that can take me days, lol.

yea i cant work on more than one beat at a time lol.....

5 beats a day is pretty crazy... quick way to burn yourself out and possibly get beat block.

I prefer to do quality over quantity.

1 beat a day... complete from beginning to end and make it the best it can be rather than rushing to bang out 5 beats that are half assed (not saying kanyes 5 beat a day quota is half-assed) but you know what I mean.

START A BEAT..... FINISH A BEAT ... just FINISH... (from OBIAUDIO BLOG)

I think we're all forgetting something really important here:

Kanye is a beast - whether you like him or not, it must be agreed upon.

Peace!

I agree with peezy, sampling makes it very possible to accomplish. The music is already there recorded, all you got to do is chop it up, re-sequence, and program some drums. Not saying that its easy to make a hot sampled beat, but it is easy just to chop and re-arrange something into anything, just to say you made a beat.

I think when he said that, it may be true, but out of all those beats only like 20 ended up on his debut album, and maybe 20 more on various other projects before. So obviously he wanst talking about making 5 HOT beats everyday for 3 yrs. It sounds like he was just laying down whatever idea he had and 90% of them probably got tossed.

When I first started making beats I made like 2-3/day for like a year straight, all composed, but all pretty much average. Its easy to just make a bunch songs that are average. Making 5 HIT songs a day for 3 summers is pretty much impossible though. Not even Quincy Jones could accomplish that.

Nowadays I'm like the others on here, I just focus on one song, and trying to make it the best it can be, even if it takes a week, but thats composing. With a sampled beat there is only so much you can do with one sample, eventually you've expolored all the options, it thats not goin to tale a week, maybe a day or two. And a lot less tracks to to mix as well.

EYENSEE, I like that quote. I used to follow that motto exclusively. Lately I find myself getting too caught up on the same song though, but its true, its better to just say its done and start another one. Then apply what you learned from the last to the next, as opposed to trying to use all your knowledge on that one beat, thinking its going to become some kind of masterpiece or something, cuz it never does.

I think theres an old saying that songwriters are always searching for their best song, but you never actually ever achieve it, but in the process each song you do make gets better.

Wow you guys are ****ing douchebags for real...everybody can take a ****ing 10 seconds sample, put some drums on top and call it a day...repeat this 5 times there you have it your 5 "beats" a day. You know what people call this shit nowadays? HALF ASSED THROWAWAY SHIT.

When Kanye was young people were feeling that simple boom bap shit you could throw together in like 5 minutes...you can't pull this shit off these days and expect people to be impressed ok.

Oh wow you just took an ALREADY great sounding sample, looped it and mashed it together with your bootlegged low quality drum kit...wait what?? You can do this 5 times a day? WHHAAT? Wow...you're shitting me right? You must be some type of musical genius...omg please tell me how you do this...

GTFOH with this lazy ass quantity over quality mentality..this is the type of thinking that is ruining hip hop...ain't nothing productive about doing 5 half assed sounding skeletons a day ok...

Kanye is a sampling God. For me personally, I find it's so much simpler composing a beat over a period of a day, than sampling a beat over a day, you have to find something worth using, when I compose, play around for an hour, find something you like, keep it, play around for an hour, have an idea, use it, etc. Also, I would rather sampled beats over composed, as at the end of the day, that's what hip hop is about, sampling.

Also, Kanye Wests 5 a day is stupid, and it is hard to make good beats. Though I don't think he was lying. You said 5 beats a day over 3 summers? Does that mean his summer holidays he concentrated on beats, but did say 7 per week, for 3 months( a summer), and the whole year he was making beats in his spare time on top. That would make sense, and it's a possibility that's what he meant.

def can only be done by sampling...when i started making beats i was making probably 3 beats a day but they we're really bad

about 4 beats a week is what i shoot for and i work on about 3-5 beats at a time

I hope ya'll realize the line was an over exaggeration and not a literal statement.

Are any of you grinding as hard as that?!!!

just because you're "grinding" don't mean you're grinding out QUALITY...or music w/ SUBSTANCE...there's a big difference, actually.
