KB have you are you using the beta? Is it syncing up with your controllers? I have an MPD18 & so far it doesn't work for me well. I was thinking that I may need the 26 or 32.

with dr octo rex and kong im sure theyll sell a bunch more copies of recycle.

I have the MPD 32 and I haven't tried it. That "Note Repeat" function on Akai's pad controllers never seemed to work out the way that I wanted them to. I just tap or draw stuff like that right into Live.

dont tell me that!?!?

thats the last thing i wana hear......

i have a 24 hope theyll play nicely.

Everyone using Reason and/or Record has no excuse not to get Recycle now.

Umm what about the fact that you don't want to pay for functionality you think should be included in the program in the first place?

now that the wait is over i can give my opinion on this update. i've not said much in this thread since i started testing the beta but it seems people having been dropping hints all week... anyway that doesn't matter now.

like kb420 is saying this update seems to be targeting the hip-hop crowd. although i don't primarily make standard hip-hop (more downtempo electronica and minimal) this update still excites me. the added sampling capabilities have really improved reason. the fact you can now record samples directly into the samplers, edit and play them is a huge positive. it's going to be a huge time saver and is that will obviously benefit workflow.

kong. well it is what it is. i really like that machine. the fx in it are simple and nice. i've wanted a drum synth in reason forever and now one is here. the fact that there are standard "analog" kick, snare and tom synths as well as physical modelling synths for these instruments is great. plus the mini-nnxt makes layering drum sounds simple and intuitive.

also the kong can be seen as an update to redrum if you want. because of the semi modular nature of reason you can hook up the redrum to 10 channels in kong and step sequence your drums. or you can simply go into block mode and use the sequencer in that as a dedicated step sequencer.

like i said i like the fx in kong. it will really make drum processing more interesting within reason. one complaint i have is that propellerhead have not made the fx modules in kong standalone devices. much like the filters in thor. although you can still obviously route devices into kong and use the fx modules.

I think people over hype this update...
mostly fan boys, Reason 5 is good, but it's nothing new, the features are new for reason users

who needs kong when you have battery 3

Yo mars i don't have Battery 3, so that Kong thingy is good for me. A person coming in the game they can have all that in one package without buying battery.

Im definitely copping, been using reason since 2003....this is a progressive update for a product I have already made tons of dope tracks and $$ with.

Yeah that note repeat don't work on my MPK, I mean it does it but it's not doing it on time. Now the MPC forget it, it does that well. If I don't need that note repeat I will just use the MPK 88 pads instead.

Kong to me looks like they took Thor and Redrum and hybrid the hell outta the two and came up with Kong, that is one dope joint and I am with Focus I am definitely coppin this!

your rite D, it's a great idea..
for dudes that want to get started in the game, it's convient
people don't have lots of money to spend on just a sampler, yah makes sense..

reason is indeed lite on the computer, compared to all these DAWS..
it's a program to just strictly make beats, that is what I like about it..

and I don't know to much about record, but reason and record together sound like the perfect team

Yeah it's real cool, I just got my hard drive so I can put up Hollywood strings so it's about to be on.

I was mixing a song in Record this morning, from my singer song writer, he isin't the best singer it's just enough to let the person hear the lyrics and his writing. It came out nice, without PT!

Yo my boy just told me in Record you can time stretch a sample by pulling a clip if it's shorter than the original source, and it will fit right in !!! DAm!!!!!!!! I want to know have anyone Done this with the Beta in Record. That's some time stretch for your a(__o__)ss !

3rd feature down:

Of course I've been able to do this for a while now in Reaper and personally am very happy with the algorithm choices you get in reaper. It's a good addition for record, but I think it should of been there from the beginning.

EDIT: Oh yeah, one thing that surprised me was being able to auto contain refill sounds, it really bugged me in reason 4 so I'm glad to see that.

All they had to do was tell me Reason 5 was coming and it was already good as bought off the strenghth of version 3 & 4's update. Then Record came and got me right, so pretty much anything they put their name on I will purchase.

Then you can stand on principle and never slice or chop anything you want into a REX file.

Even if some unit inside Reason or Record can slice something, it still would not be Recycle. It is exporting REX files that makes Recycle able to stand alone as a separate product. Reason or Record would add slicing and still not ever let REX files be exported from it.

I don't get the nay-saying about Recycle being a separate program. It is one of the most useful programs ever.

@ F Major,

i think i speak for alot of cats when i say i enjoy your youtube vids very much.

when you get your hands on R5 if you could compare kong VS maschine that would be awesome!

Okay if you think being able to save slices in the rex format is worth that then that's okay.

Even then, why couldn't they just have both? Be able to slice (and if they were really feeling generous also able to export rex files) in reason/record, and also have recycle for those that just want to be able to use their rex files in any software that supports it. Or I'd even be happy if slicing in reason was only for wav files. My point is that having to rely on a separate program just to slice easily is an antiquated method. If you're happy using the current method, good for you. Doesn't make the criticisms any less valid.

Oh and by the way, I don't chop anything in rex anymore, not after how easy I saw it was in things like ableton live and logic studio. I just wish reason would step up and include it, it'd make reason even more useful.

personally.. I have always liked having separate software for sampling and chopping

I use adobe audition to chop samples, and occasionally recycle..
for me it's better that way, chop up the sample.. then when you open up reason BAM, your ready to go

Whatever works for you, again I just wish there was an option for what works best for my workflow also.

Ok, now that they have reason 5 and record 1.5, can they please give recycle and update... maaan
