you have to expand your horizons beyond urban electronic music. Non hip hop and r&b producers have been using other sequencers for years. Countless producers that dont use mpcs for sequencing, or never used an mpc at all. Heck even within hip hop tons of hits were made on sp-12/1200s asr-10s/eps(16) etc. Hip hop producers and r&b producers mainly held the mpc sequencer up as the sequencer of choice. Not the case for other genres.

focused trust and believe i know about all other sequencers im' speaking on sequencer for the past 15 years. I know all about the asr10 sp-12/1200s asr 10 all that but from the people ive been around countless producers that dont make hip hop music at all. They use other equipment but from what i've been around they all said out of all the features on a mpc the sequencer is the best thing they seen on hardware.

at the end of the day gentlemen, lets just put out good music with what we got, who cares who uses what etc etc

stick with what works for you and master it..

I love software over hardware, because I am a computer guy/web designer, things have to be visually appealing for me..

I like having a big ass computer screen for sequencing or chopping samples etc

the sampling features in reason is crazy you sample right on the spot anything you want as long as your routing is setup right. Pretty much like a mpc in sample mode. You edit the sample right on the spot as well. Crossfade, loop, reverse normalize all in the sample editor plus reason will save it in the audio pool if you want to use that sample later on a different device such as the nn19 or nnx19 or redrum.

So riddle me this, do you get a short limit of time to sample or it's just go as long as your computer can take it? So you can do vocals in it as well if you hook up a mic right? Then people can edit vocals right then and there?

trust where the f*** are you getting your info from the mpc has been hailed as the holy grail for sequencing. I dont know where you get in the past 30 years because for the past 10 to 15 years is been know that mpc is the king of sequencing. Most people use the daws to record the audio from the mpc sequence. And i'm project 5 sucks balls. Your like the only person i know who talks about project 5.

I get my info from knowledge + experience.

You get yours from popular opinion at www.futureproducers.com.

I did recall saying that the MPC has been hailed by rap producers...but I also said it was not the most favored sequencer by the industry as a whole. Did you know a lot of people sequenced their hardware from Commodore 64's?

Have you ever used Project5 and compared it to other sequencers?

Titan did lol..
when I saw your video on it, it was like you had a piece of Gold in your hands, then you got rid of it, why DaNOc why...
lol

but on the real.. Cubase 5 caught my attention..
I always chopped my samples manually in adobe audition, so I never really cared about what sampling features these software's come out with

Ok you are going to derail this whole thread, don't start this please, seriously.

out of respect for you Focused...

you wish is my command...

the Reason/Record combo is what it is...

another nice tool to have...

whatever features that they add it still boils down to who is at the controls...

Project 5? LOL :rofl::rofl: Man I had to go look that up just now I didn't even know that program existed lol hahah

a lot of RnB music has been done with the MPC , hell since Mary J HipHop and RnB go hand in hand.

But dang I didn't even know Project 5 existed as a Program, what is that like PT?

Then:

A. You know I am right because until Live dropped, you used Project5 instead of the MPC (and people like us use what we want since we have the cash to buy 10 MPCs if we thought it was the best)

B. You probably made better music with Project5 than on a MPC.

Hey Trusty, let P5 rest in peace man, for real!!!!!:):):)

Never!!! That is like saying "let the mpc3000 rest in peace". Why? It still works and it was/is a great program.

That said, I don't use Project5 anymore. I am on Live 8...but, of course, I am getting into Sonar 8.5 PE right now more and more and may use Live only for live purposes from now on.

well I have heard of it, it's a cakewalk product, but when I go on their website I only look for sonar

well i havent' tried to see how long i can sample for there wasn't a time limit from what i can tell but the sampling features are great imo

DaNoc, you got rid of your Titan???? What happened there????

Yeah, I gave it to a young buck, how is a bad ass piano player and guitarist, he was begging me hard for it. Man that cat is working the hell outta that program, better than I did. He is like 21 I think, but all I am trying to show him now is how to lay drums, he's getting there, and how to use the MPC with the drums. I don't really need it, so....... I just gave it to him because he is going to be working with me in a minute so I let go of it :( it's all good, I will get ten fold back by giving :)

Come on Trusty, let it go man. Let it go!!!!

It is a great program. It is the sequencer I used for a long time. It is the reason I jumped off hardware altogether. I started sequencing virtual software in Sonar 3 (hated Sonar's sequencer back then) from my MV-8000, and once I discovered Project5, I ditched all my hardware.

Orion is another great software sequencer no one talks about.
