You should be able to watch it now.

Nevermind it works now. Got this app called hotspot shield which hides your ip to third party networks or some shit. Hulu couldn't tell if i'm in or outside of the US lol.

Works like a charm.

Doc was ****ing great.

Gives you a nice inside of what's really happening with the business side of music. This is a "must see" for everybody involved in todays music production.

Thanks for posting this.

true...but how much of this stuff is not already known?

i mean; generally...the documentary was basically saying "FUKC THE INDUSTRY"...which is common sense for anyone WITH common sense.

Yea but most ppl don't wanna listen unless its a "important" person telling you the facts.

Erykah badu summed it up pretty well.
A lot of good quotes in this doc imo.

and those are the exact same people that don't understand the concept of "conflict of interest".

I didn't watch the whole documentary but I don't get why they call it Before the Music Dies but they demonstrate how its easier than ever for anyone to be able to make million $ studio quality sounding music without the million dollars and to be able to advertise without a major label. and the last bit pretty much summed up my why hip hop died thread.

It's the part about Radio and the lack of push for real music because the major are busy blowing their share holders... etc.

Oh I see if that were the case why don't think just pay the radios to play the music themselves?

It gets mad expensive... not a lot of cats got that type of money...

I think Q 93 was charging 100 or 150 to play a song once after 8pm.

It's pure bullshyt

Your music better sell itself ... cause then folks will request it... but that takes a lot too... I remember when heard one of my songs on the radio... It felt good man... shit I almost for got I had my song played on the radio... but anyway...

the best time to have the radio station play a song is during rush hour cause everyone who listenswill be in their car but it cost a bunch

Ok so I don't know how people can blame the record labels for that. If your not going to turn a profit because your music isn't popular enough then there is no point from a business stand point to take a risk. Because it sounds like the whole point of the label is to take a financial risk that you could not take.

Ok your partially right... but this is where the documentary comes and says how the formulated music being manufactured is soulless and repetitive. This in turn makes it difficult for new artist with different approaches to break into the lime light.... just look at the video again... it all makes sense

it's funny hearing Erykah Badu talking about having to be butt naked to get publicity! lol i guess she knew what her plans where! lol

A classic FAIL. Talk about saying one thing and doing another. Besides the massive PR, that video (the Badu music video, not the doc) was completely pointless. And could there be a more cliched way of showing how she's "shedding all the extra baggage" than getting nekkid? Please. And all that nonsense with her supposed political messages and Ankhs and all that sh1t...when in essence all it was, was a over-hyped public flashing video. Sure, we got to see her jiggly butt.

This doc is also available on DVD and pretty much all over the internet, in case someone's interested.
