I started making a Cubase device panel for the RM1X a while back for editing and automating the on board sounds on screen like a VST, it's not finished yet but it makes things easy and gives access to some parameters that are usually hidden.

I am a big fan of hooking other sequencers to my DAW I do this with both my Atari and the RM1X, I usually slave the RM1X to Cubase with MIDI going both ways and bounce between the two.

The only thing I really dislike about the RM1X is that in grid mode (really step sequencing) you can only hear the channel you are working on and that's why it is good to have a second sequencer to record each sequence into and take care of the other channels play back.
