I'll tell you what's wrong with Tech's music...
He makes music for himself... and often times people don't feel the way he feels... mostly songs about some agenda or something he is pissed about.
If he made songs for people to listen to without having to buy into his way of thinking... he'd be way more popular.
I'm a Tech9ne casual listener.... not a hardcore fan. His flow is incredible, I will admit that.

Used to be that way about Twista when Bone Thugs blew up before he did.
Techn9ne can't pick beats or make decent hooks to save his life. His songs sound generic when it comes to beats and hooks.

come on rome... tech makes music that millions of people love. he is undoubtedly the number one indie rapper right now. Killer sold 131k in a little 16 months, and 65k of his collabo compilation Sickology 101 in 6 months. that's not the sign of someone who makes songs that "often times" people can't relate to. His whole popularity is based on his relatability.
One of the things that's brought tech to the level of popularity he has is he knows how to have fun. Not all his songs are about his issues... matter of fact, the deep songs didn't start on everready til late into it. it was mostly party songs, which coming from most rappers would be redundant, but tech knows how to keep it fun.

Nah, Tech has fans that think it's "cool" to be underground I guess. Like they're in the know and everybody else is missing out.
If he were mainstream, people wouldn't check for him like they do now.... but for some reason, he can't get that mainstream steam going for him.
Anybody care to explain that? Don't come with "maybe he doesn't want to be". Just tell me why he can't get on Nat'l TV or radio ... even with a million fans.
I guess it sounds like I don't like him but that's not the case. I've played some of his stuff throughout the years. Most of it's just not for me though.
I wish Tech much continued success.

no it was because of you I asked that because we usualy like the same stuff so it made me curious why you liked him. I thought I had made up my mind about him but then your liking of him threw my opinion a curve ball. But then I listened to some of it and I recomfirmed my not liking it. When I said trash I did mean "white" trash but I didn't want to be yunno. I just don't feel his vibe. It's not my style.
It's like Rome said it's kinda about thinking it's cool cuz it's underground or attempting to be even "harder" than mainstream rappers in a corny way.

i've said it before and i'll say it again. if u ever go to kansas city, u'll see just how diverse tech's fanbase is. when i first heard him was at the same time 8 mile came out, and i was visiting my fam in KC. to me, 8 mile was the peak of eminem's popularity, and in KC, Tech was just as big as eminem at that time. that is huge.

... well something went drastically wrong with the management of his career.
I bet 50 Cent could make him a star.... like he did Game. Seems like he has the same problems Game had... can't create concepts and hooks but has the flow part down... sort of like Canibus kinda.
I've listened to almost all of his stuff at least once... and it always gives me the same vibe... I think "something is missing here". I can't put my finger on what it is.
I'm waiting for him to get on those Real Axis beats, if the song concepts are on point, I'll probably listen to it.
I remember when he was on a song with about 8 other artists, all mainstream. It was KRS One and a bunch of other dudes, I thought UH OH Tech is going to show out and people are going to take notice! He killed it but it do anything to springboard him any further than he is.
I know he has independent loot and is doing what he wants the way he wants but... it just doesn't cater to me.

Tech really likes to talk about his own experiences. He talks about the industry trying to **** him over, about partying, about women, about his own demons, basically about what HE's going through. I can relate to that, as I think music should be personal. I also think the industry would give him a chance (he obviously has the talent) but then he would have to change his total persona AND his music. Basically they're saying: "Hey Tech, be someone else to cater to <a certain> group of people". I don't know about you guys, but music to me (for the most part, as I obviously listen to "mainstream" music as well) is about self expression.
