Yeah, not suprising given that's his box. But honestly, while it has good features, I really am not a fan of the preamp on that one.

Hmm, why not? It seems like a safe one stop piece. I've never heard it either.

I wish I could do a shoot out between the BLA Auteur, Summit Audio, Safe Sound P1, and the CL 7206.

If you ever have a chance to try a GTQ2, please do. It has the Neve tone, but with a great high freq texture. It's made by one of Neve's old head designers Geoff Tanner.

now i got the money! X ) but im being a chicken sh!t.....and i think ima end up gettin the BLA auteur.....seems like the safest best for wat i want at a small price......if my research is correct this pre should give me big clean vocals! it dont got alot of bells and whistles but its all the hype right now! ima track a few songs then decide weather ill benifit from a rnc too.

You wont regret it! I love it for big vocals and acoustic anything. Over heads on drums, acoustic guitars, stand up bass, it really does hold up to pres 4 times its price great river and API from my experience. (Note it is not the same as those two but in the same league imo.)

To me the Auteur is very acoustic sounding. Not big. But it's very clean so it allows a lot of stacks and panning to get a bigger sound.

You will not go wrong with any of them. Although, I would probably take the CL if I could only have one. It's a sound that you won't get tired of and it's not always super colored. It has a clean sound when you only drive the input 35db or so and crank the output.

You can't go wrong though. API, CL, Summit Audio, BLA... they are all great sounding. Just in different ways.
