so who do you think it is? for me its KRS. dude is a legend but hes way overrated IMO. guys from around the same time period could destroy him (rakim, kool g) and they updated their flows and got better as they aged, but KRS in the year 2009 is garbage. i always hear him talking about being one of the greatest ever though. either him or prodigy of mobb deep, i can only listen to like one verse by him before his ultra monotone voice puts me to sleep. oh and DMX. but no one really talks about him being good. so what about everyone else?

I've never seen this thread before.

Thanks for making it!

Definetly KRS 1, dude is garbage to me always has been, even back in the eric b, and rakim days.......But DMX has some of the hardest albums out, he definetly has a couple classics under his belt, hes not good hes great...

damn gotta dis agree with this also, he doesn't have any classic albums, but the sqad mixtapes are the best i ever heard:cool:

2Pac, Jay-Z, Lil' Wayne, U-God (He is hot, but not THAT hot), Joe Budden, Lloyd Banks (His mixtape days cool, but after that first album, all downhill but people was still on his nuts.)

Doesn't mean hes overrated, unless being hot is overated then i guess your right.....

I dont like hardly any of his new shyt...but the talent he put fourth on those sqad mixtapes proves that hes not overrated IMO...

so you dont mess wit him cuz he got punched thats kinda understandable, but if you look @ da situation he prolly did the smart thing. still waiting for the tape to leak though.

and when did fans quit on artists cause of how many copies they sold. i didn't cop it yet, but im pretty sure most people downloaded it considering its a digital EP not even a album, and it dropped same day as the slaughterhouse album.

if you only fuxxed wit him cuz of how much he sold, than you were never a real fan, you were a stan. the reason you dont **** with him has nothing to do with his music so you seeming extra sensative. if you want someone who will sell records go become a weezy fan

its funny how some of u say KRS is overrated, yet when asked about Lil Wayne, u guys bring up his mixtapes from the past.... like KRS got hits for years!!! for years alot of his verses were bein used as hooks in other rappers' songs... u guys need to revisit the BDP library for sure... based on what im hearin, you've NEVER visited it at all.

oh yea... i think NORE is overrated.

The Future flopping of This Guy will go down in history...

I don't think Drake will "flop." I do however think he's a bit overrated, lyrically. But his buzz right now is undeniable and he deserves major props for grinding like he's been grinding.

only kids say KRS is overrated. it's hard to understand how someone was the man in thier day, if the person making that statement didn't live in that day. its like years from now, people will say jay-z and lil wayne were overrated, and you guys will argue with the kids who make those statements. its the same issue with the kid who just ran out and saw the new gi joe movie but can't understand the big deal about Casablanca or Gone with the Wind. its the same thing now with the younger cats who can't understand the big deal people make over Biggie or Pac. if you were around in thier hayday, then you lived the life and realized what the big was, but tryin to explain it to someone years later who wasn't there and can't feel it, is a waste of time and oxygen. me personally, i'm into MC's, not merely rappers. so people who have clever word play, an extensive vocab, breath control, subject matter, and a tight flow appeal to me. i don't care who's "hot". thats sht means nothing to me. hot=popular, it does not equal good. KRS-1 spoke on real issues, covering up ur willy, black cops and police brutality, as well as the down side to living the fastlife. but, above all, my man was all about rockin the party and having fun. not just phuckin hos, sellin drugs and killin people. bottom line, if you weren't popping when he was, then you wouldn't understand. same way ur kids won't understand why you think jay-z or weezy is the greatest of all time. woop woop, thats the sound of the police!

youre absolutely right Lex... i see and hear the same thing alot now with the argument "who's better, Kobe or Micheal?"... all these young cats sayin Kobe, EVEN Lebron, is better than Mike... im like, wow!
