Wikipedia is not the gospel, I can edit it. I don't trust alot of things on wikipedia.

its the way it is.....i been reading the book All you need to know about the music industry and its the way it is..

Its all in the Contract........A Record Label will fund the money for recordings and etc but you will have to pay that back at the end.... but everything depends on what the contract says....their are artists that never made enough money on sales to recoup what the labels provided...and thats when they consider it a failure.....anybody correct me if im somewhat wrong......

This was more believable when it was originally released but there is no way this chick is only 20 Gs deep now.
 
so...a major label is basically a musical bank, where they loan you money till you can pay it back...

aside from the distribution advantages
 
Yep. People gotta get paid. And the better people are at what they do (marketing, mixing, producing), the more it costs.

This is exactly why I pay such close attention to my BUSINESS. Rihanna don't even know that she is paying for her own projects, her own videos, etc, and the label is STILL taking 85% of her money...and her management ain't telling her...

This is why you need to concentrate on the BUSINESS side of things as hard as you concentrate on the MUSIC side of things...


Don't listen to these ass clowns on FP who say "all you need to do is make great music, and then find someone to take care of your business for you...", cuz then you'll be in a similar situation...with someone else spending your money, and you don't know where it's going.



Like i keep on saying...GOOD BUSINESS WILL SELL BAD MUSIC...BUT BAD BUSINESS WILL NOT SELL GOOD MUSIC!!!

No, article claimed it was other way around. The reason she had only 20K was because her money was being used to fund her projects.

Anyway, this was a while ago. Not the case anymore.
 
This is the industry were all dreaming about. If this is all true, am sorry for rhianna, $20,000 and shes been all over the charts so many times.

This accountant could get censured for exposing client's business. Even ex-clients. Unethical.

(That does make it more likely to be true, though.)
