We have a dedicated music room. My wife is classical so it has all her strings, piano etc and I am electronic so all my hardware, pute, some guitars etc and even a drum kit. Its pretty cluttered but somehow it works.
 
in the bathroom I sit on the toilet and I mix and master with krks. send me your tracks for master >:]

in my living room at my parents house (im 13) Someimes its an issue because my $8 headphones are quite leaky and I have to put my keyboard on my lap, and I have the inability to download anything due to using my dads laptop.
 
You're not supposed to be mixing at loud volumes anyways.

And if you had to just wait to do it til reasonable hours, or use headphones.

Not exactly rocket science.
 
B. but i used to have a little setup back at my mom's basement. it sucked because she would complain about the noise. good thing i have my own place now lol
 
I'm just 17 so I have my little studio in my bedroom in mom house. But I can play on max volume with no worries. :D
