But there is a great thing with Kontakt, I downloaded some Yamaha ES sounds (nki. files) and I can use them. I heard that there are as well Roland Phantom sounds.

The best thing to do when making music is not to jump to the newest OS when it comes out. I finally stepped up to Vista bc of so many driver issues. I say wait at least a few ears before upgrading. Im an IT Admin for a company. Upgrades can suck at times.

Got to change my list been researching, trying out and shopping again:)

1) Omnisphere - 6000+ patches. layers can be combined with Trilian layers, and it has really nice sampled, easy playable guitars. Lots of sampled historical important synthesizers and zillions of dance patches, strings, polysynth, light bulbs, lead guitar, R2D2 on drugs, fully editable patches. 32bit & 64bit

2) Trilian - 1300+ patches. Has every bass you can imagine also installs into Omnisphere. Also has an amazing Chapman Stick guitar. Electric Bass guitar, Standup bass, hundreds of sampled historical bass synthesizers and new crazy bass synth ideas. Mix layers and use edit to make your own. 32bit & 64bit

3) Alicia's Keys - Most real sounding piano. Sampled Yamaha C3 Neo.

4) Steven Slate Drums / comes with Kontakt 4 player. - Best rock and metal drum kit samples in 24bit. Famous sampled drum kits, ie Metalica, AC/DC loads more.

5) Stylus RMX - Does your grooves and does lots of clever stuff.
6) Zebra - Just like a hardware synth but lacks patches.
7) Z3ta+ - Converts your midi controler into a Virus TI, sort of.
8) Vanguard - Awsome Analog for dance music. Similar to a Virus Ti.
9) Nexus - Must for dance music but lacks Editing features.
10) FM8 - Very accurate virtual version of a Yamaha DX7.

All these work with Windows 7 64bit and Ableton live 8.

Me Makey filthstep, so that being the case:

1.) NI Massive: I have yet to make a single track in which this is not invaluable. From filth to sub bass and anything in between, massive is my workhorse.

2.) NI Battery: Has every drum and SFX that I could ever want besides the ones I make with Massive.

3.) NI Guitar Rig Pro: EFX masterwork here, I love to use its distortion on synths and bass drums when making hardcore inspired parts.

4.) NI Absynth: Great ambiences and fx in here.

5.) NI FM8: All types of creative noises in this one.

6.) UAD plugins: ive only got to sample these on a friends pc, but I love them.

7.) Spectrasonics Trillian: I have it, but I honestly use massive for basses a million times more often than this, I just enjoy sound design I suppose.

8.) Talk Box: Makes synths do neat things.

9.) NI Kontakt: I'm actually surprised that this is not higher on the list, I love dark classical music, and know the scales well, and use Kontakt for most movements of that type, but none the less, Kontakt is awesome.

10.) FL Studio: hate all you want, this is a great bare sequencer, it takes a lot of time to make your drumsounds well in protools, export them to FL and then import them back, but its what I know, and it works for me.
