hey ronnie, where do u get your drums?
where do u get any of the sounds you have acquired?

what about when "composers" replay a melody thats been made already?(pharrell, lil jon...)

where does the line get drawn?

pointless thread by the way

hey relevent im not tryna save no music....im not tryna do anything i was stating an opinion..this is a ****ing forum of opinions....i know lil jon is making crazy money but do u think doing the same ****t ova n ova is nice.....people gotta have pride.........i love wat i do cuz it comes from my head i find inspirations......im not sayinf for peps too make beatz like 20 yrs ago dont be a smart ass partner...im saying to make it wit the same heart.....get @ me on aim or msn...so i can show u some of my stuff...i all youll like......

Between these two statements there's a contradiction. You say sampling is weak but yet Rakim and Eric B. Sampled. How do you know that music was from the heart more then the ones now?
Well how do you don't know Dre and Kanye don't make their music from their heart? Kanye-Through the Wire? thats music from the heart. So for you say make music from the heart 20 years ago (where rakim and eric b sampled) is ignorant. Because you can't prove what it is. It's a music trend what was in now out just like lil jon. Not a opinion but a ignorant statement.

help with samples...

i recently started sampling....70's soul...old school jamz....u know stuff like that....but am having trouble....geting real good songs to sample from....even though my uncle gave me a collection of cds from the 70's.....i have like 150+ cds mostly soul music...rnb...but i really dont wanna sample artist who have been oversampled...any help...plis

Most talented artists don't just take a loop of a sample and add some drums onto it. Listen to Diamonds are Forever, for an example. The melodies Kanye and John Brian added to that song are craaazzzy and make that song better than the original in my opinion. Now, I know you prefer composers over samplers but to a certain aspect, all music is sampled. I probably sound dumb saying that. ;)

answer???

^ interpolation is the same as sampling in my book.

Once hip hop loses its history and its link to its roots it becomes techno.

And all the people hating on sampling are just doing so because they dont know how to do it. Rocking a keyboard is nice, and can be challenging as well, no judgement. But people who dont know how to sample always underestimate the difficulty and the creativity involved.

Stick to your keyboard beats if you want, well stick to our vinyl, and stop making pointless threads to provoke people.

i've been feeling that sampling is right for me for several years now. i've been researching, reading and trying a lot about it.

now i read a post on an internet forum from a random guy, who...

1. ...can't even build complete sentences
2. ...is hardly eighteen years old (1988)
3. ...does not prove and knowledge about rap in his post

am i gonna change my mind? definitely not, period.

.sampling to me is a form of copying..wait thats what it is!!!! most of u wanna be producers find a somone elses work chopp it and just add drums to it...and u think that was art.......nah is recycling......honestly the some of u that get "offended"" by this.....i dont care.....be creative it works for me....it feels way betta when u know u made some from scratch....

You're hilarious my friend.

Sampling is a form of capturing sound. If you are empty, if your head is a hole, then, sampling will be a form of copying.
Sampling is a proposal of technology, you apply the creativity. Don't be so naive.

ronniebonnie is an idiot you can be creative with a sample changing tempo, instrument, but to the same pattern of the sample ETC.

Your a F**king idiot. You know nothing about what it means to produce creative music. So ahh lets see F*ktard if I used a god damn drum machine and turned out a beat that'd be ok? But if I'm sample based its not. Listen to this quote(if you can understand it), "I'M NOT A MUSCICIAN, I'M A PRODUCER"-Buckwild. That sums it all up. The irony is, every one of my friends that can't understand sampling are very ignorent to many different muscical styles. The other brothers I know who sample, have mad respect for every genre. I don't consider my self a muscian so why the F*K would anyone critize me ahahaha! I enjoy digging for old records, I have a passion and respect for all music, and I like to take brief synopsis of terrible records, and even great records to mold it into something I love to listen to. WTF is wrong with that? You a fascist bro and get the f*k off this form. DUHHHHH hey guys lets post on a samplers/digging forum even though we have no experiance of it and no knowledge that makes sense. Go back to making your gay computer beats, thats all you know.

So what your doing is dismissing HipHop as a whole and what it stands for. Get tha F*k off this whole website. Your dissing all the greats, ironically enough you proably listen to haha. No you like sampling only when it suits your needs. I'll be honest computer made beats disgust me, however I would never go to the software forum and diss everyone on it. They have their own niche that works for them so hey who am I to critize? I work my ass off everyweek paying school off, trying to save money and get ahead. I enjoy sampling and old records, some people enjoy jerking off to Gay porn like you, but I don't critize them. Everyones different, guess if their not exactly like you them their thieves who steal music. Also in a world of Pirated music I for one still support artists by purchasing their stuff, sampling has generated so much more net income for older muscians. Ever hear of sample clearence? Probably not, its a little above you.

I think this is pretty much a shut case at this point. Rather than further attacking dude(mind you he's a 16/17 year old kid who's inexperienced in production), let's just all come to the agreement he has more to learn. We're now to the point where we're just beating a dead horse.

Well put. Wish I had the patience you have......so........how bout that tight sample you flipped yesterday LOL.

yo save the words you insulted me and one of the producers u respect. i see u sed you respect pharrel check the diary of pharrel where he says tribe called quest is the reason neptunes produce.tribe called quest mostly rap to samples. and me i chose an mpc cuz i knew it could satisfy me after that there was no way to turn back for a keyboard. i sample cuz i have no choice you cant blame everyone that samples and u called the best the worst in your opening thread so ...

^ i agree... i think. im not sure waht you are saying excatly.

Anyway, it seems the sample hater has been sacred off. THERE IS NO FEASIBLE ARGUMENT AGAINST SAMPLING. at a high level, its amazingly creative. if you dont like sampling, you dont like hip hop. Name one CLASSIC hip hop song that wasnt sampled or interpolates. exactly. there arent any.

This is a classic thread of what being a hater is. You just need to step up ur game, dont take ur anger out on people who can sample
