now what makes jay-z such a great lyricist is that he sometimes leave lines open to interpretation but I think people are looking way too deep into this one.....


to the city your a virgin......meaning you've never been here your new to it, you dont know what your doing in this city.

jesus cant save you life starts when the church ends.......he's just saying if you come to new york to hustle... jesus cant keep you from getting shot, if you come to get big on music, jesus cant save you from getting ignored, if you came to be a ball player he cant save you from falling under the pressure, if you came to be a model he cant save you from not making it.......life starts when the church ends meaning you have to make it on your own.


people will take that literally and say of course jesus can help you with all that but Jay aint bein literal he's just sayin if your a virgin to the city NOBODY can help you make it your on your own.

Now that may be seen as sacreligious but quite honestly alot of hip hop artists say things along those lines but i guess his level of fame at this point cant allow him to make those lyrics without being scrutinized.
 
INTERPRET THE VERSE AS AN EFFIN WHOLE AND IT WILL MAKE PERFECT SENSE. Dont start this shyt up AGAIN!

I wasn't dissing Jay. I own all of his albums, in fact.

On top of that, notice that I didn't have any input. I simply said watch and discuss. i.e. come to your own conclusion.

AND...

I think it would be interesting to see some response videos, too.

Really, c'mon can't we just call a pig a pig here. Lets be real. I understand Jay-Z isn't a Christian and he's entitled to his own views but lets be real what he really means is what he states. Jesus can't save you, life starts when the church ends. Its pretty clear to me, how could you go and dress it up as something else when its quite obvious as to what he meant. Its not just you but a lot of people. I don't know why people are defending him and can't just accept the fact he is antichristian. What reason do you have to defend him, are you a christian trying to justify reason that you could listen to it? Otherwise why do you care.

Anyway what he really means is Jesus can't save you life starts when the church ends. He means that jesus doesn't exist, don't bother following christian doctrines, but free to do whatever you want and live your own way. Again "Life starts when the church ends" = you aren't really living to the fullest until you get jesus and god out of your life. Don't waste your time with it. Which is the common view among the new age spirituality movement.

What about this line.

LeBron is a known Christian. I remember seeing an interview where the guy asked how he got to where is at and he responded with Gods Blessing, something about jesus too." So Jesus is paying LeBron

Dwyane Wade is going to the team that Jay owns.

So he's saying well if his money is coming from god then Dwaynes money is coming from me, comparing himself to god basically.


Anyway thats all I wanted to say about that, just be real with yaself.

Not tryna be too critical about it but, that was a stretch. But I don't exactly agree with DaBomb's translation either.

All I'm saying is translate the verse and not just the line.

Already discussed. Dig up the old thread. Y'all keep flooding the site with bullsh*t at this point. Do a forum search for "Jay diss jesus" you guys are saying word for word the same stuff already discussed. Some of you participated in it the 1st time. Thread closed.
