You guys know the one that go back and forth really fast they come in around the second half of the hook and they have this kind of menacing quality to them.

Can someone please tell me how to do them ? I'm guess its a production technique rather then a sound setting or a specific instrument cause he seems to do the samething with the flutes. As well but I'm not 100 % on that.

i don't know which set of strings u'r talkin about, but the real intricate ones are definitely a sample. probably from an indian movie or something.

Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood

has it to around after the first minute and 10 seconds it goes up real fast and goes down real fast sounds like a XY controller might have been used.

I'm thinking it might be a production technique cause he seems to use it on the flutes too.

i just listened to it, those are somebody playing a synth. i don't think they were strings. i might be wrong tho

they could be mellotrons, but i havent really listened to the songs you mentioned, i just know timbo uses a lot of mellotron

heres jeezy's 3 am. the strings thatt i said are sampled com on at 1:06. i don't know about the others tho.

heres gorillas' clint eastwood

On 3am it sounds like a roland jv violin, viola double.
Might be a sample of a soundtrack

i'm sorry this offers no help for your question, i just have to say how much I love that Gorillaz vid/track.

That is all

Listen closely to the strings. Not too hard to figure out. Also realize that its spot in the mix also has to do with it

that was my first reaction as well - when you lower the volume on something, it'll sound farther away and maybe a little muddier.
