Im really sorry if i incovience any of you with this noob question, but I have searched the net and these forums for info on this machine. Will i be able to produce hip hop beats and use my samples, etc with this machine. I noticed it has a flopy too so i can import my .wav's? But evry search I run up on it, its has someone saying its good for dance music, but thats not the direction im taking my beats. I found interest in it due to its low price. If anyone could lend me some info on this machine hip hop wise, id greatly appreciate. I was interested in this machine, or an ASRX/pro, or the SU-700. So basically i was wondering if the RM1X oculd put out the same as an ASR, or is this machine just limited to making drum beats? Thanks

It's a "groovebox" with internal drum, synth, organ, piano, bass and whatever sounds - but it doesn't sample at all, and to be honest the sounds get dull after a while. However, the sequencer f***ing rocks, and that's the reason I have mine...actually it's the reason I originally bought it. If you can get one fairly cheap (<$300), it's a good deal. But I'd suggest getting a nice sampler to go with it - the Yamaha A-series integrates particularily nicely (I have a Yamaha A3000), but basically anything will work.

yeah, I'll co-sign that...
The RM1X is a hot little machine. The drumkits on it are off the HOOK!!!. Plus the sequencer is supertight. The Motif, RS7000 have the same sequencer engine behind it also.
It doesn't read wav files. The floppy is just to save your sequences, songs and patches.

Cop the RS7000 instead. They're dirt cheap these days. don't sleep.

RS7000 dirt cheap????????????????????????????????????????????????????? whats dirt cheap, i see on ebay 600$, thats not dirt cheap, is it good for hiphop?

dirt cheap considering that it is a synth, sequencer, and sampler and was over $1000 just over a year ago. and yes, it's good for hiphop.

the sounds are good?????????? and say i want to sample from vinyl, is it good for that to?

Yes it'll sample vinyl if you run the turntable through a preamp first. And who cares about the onboard sounds, its got a sampler! It sounds exactly how you want it to sound.

i have like a turntable amp from radio shack, will taht work???

P, run a search on RS7000 and RS7K in this forum. There is a ton of info here on the RS. Also go to www.rs7000.org and search their forums as well.

co sign rs7k or rem1x...
go look for it playa...
rs7k is still the one of the coolist gears i have
