Heres what happened..I got a Xone 62 finally. I currently had a Vestax PMC 270a for almost 3 years, holding up great I might add. I spin anything progressive so the vestax worked great and sounded graet. Anyways, I bought a Zone 62 hooked it up and started to use it right away, After 5 hours and disconnected it and took it back to the store, and got my money back. now your probably asking why the #%$* did you do that?

Let me break it down in an easy way:
1. the bass (+6) is not deep enough, to miminal.
2. The VCF filter knob was great at first but after using it for an hour I was already bored of it.
3. Never could get use to the channel faders(the knob)
4. Did not like how I only could use the Booth output to hook up for home use(without XLR's)feel like I got cheated.
5. did not like Cue meters display set up compared to the channel fader meters
6. I hooked up my CD burner to the "RECORD OUT", and it did not work! probably should have hooked up the burner to the AUX output instead. but then I would have to bought 1/4 inch cables, after spending that much money I would think I would not have to buy anything else to make my equipment work.
7. It always sounded like I had no bass, even when turned. I only placed the bass know on about +3 did not want to go to plus +6(scared, might break it especiall using just the BOOTH output.

Now heres the real problem:

After hooking up my old stuff, I realized that my old equipment sound likes *$%@!! Should I just waited and would have gotten pretty used to it. I think I was stubborn and just wasnt use to it!!! should I go buy it back, and hold on for it.

Heres the equipment I have: Event's 20/20 studio monitors, T1600 Haffler amplifier, and 1 Tascam CD-R4U Cd burner, and 2 Technic 1200's MK2's

please give me some advice.

Mine sounds Fine!

I have an Arcam Amp,Spirit Abosute2 Moniters and a pair of B&W floorstanders(which are naturally warm sounding)

You may have thought the clear sound produced by the mixer was lack of bass!
But it's not,it's perfectly crisp sound!

Try again, maybe try a different Speakers?.Monitors are'nt great for pure bass!

In recorded music, you generally shouldn't have to EQ up seeing as it's already EQed during the mastering process. So, at straight up 12 on the Xone's EQs, you should be hearing how it was recorded and mastered. The bass is already there and you shouldn't necessarily have to punch it up using the EQs on the mixer. I use a Xone 62 and haven't had to punch up the bass on much of anything (I also spin progressive and tribal).

Second off, as stated previously, monitor speakers aren't meant for tons of bass response. They are meant for a flat response over the entire range of music.

I'd take the Xone over the Vestax any day of the week and twice on Sundays...

the xone 62 should be run like no other mixer i have used. main output and channel faders are designed to be run at full output with the level controlled via the trims. the mixer is not designed for home use which is why all the things you felt cheated on are the way they are. the filters are fantastic, i would happily trade the entire effects section of the djm600 for the vca filters on the 62. you are not going to get serious bass out of those speakers, it has nothing to do with the mixer. it took me at least a week of using the 62 to really love it. that being said, the 62 is not for everyone. i used to run a pmc-17a (the little brother of the 270) and stepped up to the djm600. nice mixer and very easy to transition from the 17a to. then i stepped up to the 62. the 600 spent it's days from then on in a box in the closet until i sold it. if the 62 is not for you, give the 600 or maybe the offerings from denon and ecler a try. - jeff h

Now I went back to the place, thinking I was going to re purchase it. so I get there and ask the sale clerk how come my burner did not work when hooked up to the RECORD OUT on the back of the Xone 62? he said he didnt know. Then I suggested maybe if I got 1/4 cable's I should maybe run the burner from the AUX output, he didnt know either. so I left empty handed. I think that anyone should be able to hook up a burner to it for "recording live mixes." straight from the mixer. This is the way I had it on my Vestax PMC 270. there was two master outs. I guess what I could do is buy some xlr's to 1/4 inch cables for powering it up, and then buy some additional 1/4 cables from BOOTH out to burner. http://www.allen-heath.com/AHImages/hi_res/xone62_connectors_hires.htm

Doc and dynagroove hit the nail on the head.

Turning the bass up you are merely compensating for inadequate speakers or poor taste. ;)

I think I understand about the bass situations, but what about the other stuff I mentioned? can anyone help?

you just have to consider that this is pro equipment -- not bedroom stuff -- (not to bash vestax, they make pretty good stuff)

I had a friend over recently and he was all like "how am i supossed to mix on those things (I gave him a choice of the Rane 2016 combo or the Bozak) there's no split cue -- he did alright cueing one ear in and one out, just takes getting used to -- I think he would have realy freaked if I had only offered the Bozak -- no crossfader to be found

But all in all, you have to decide what is more important to you -- sound and build quality or ease of use

My .02 are to go with higher quality gear and just really learn it. And for buying all the extra cables and crap -- get used to it....

I can't for the life of me understand why you can't record from the recording out on the 62. Unless the mixer is faulty you shouldn't have to do more than just plug it in and rock away.

me neither, i have never had any problems recording with a line out on ANY mixer that I have had experience using....

i guess it could also be the sound card, but....
