hey...ive been rapping for 6 months now and im starting to learn from others and im starting to get better as time goes on and as i keep writing.

But i want to know if there is any "lyric rubric" to follow...u know...
I want to know any steps involved in writing COMPLEX verses....for example...the underground rapper "papoose".....his verses are so complex and crazy....
i wanna learn how to structure my verses into something crazy and complex....

thank you for all replies!!!!

i want to learn a complex lyric rubric, format, or outline that will give me sum guidelines as to how to write complex verses.

Congratulations! You're the next ******* contestant on "Who Wants To Be A Rapper?"

The fabulous prize of being on MTV could be yours for the proper amount of selling out and giving a top producer a hummer to make your songs. You can be played in Clubs and loathed by all the real rappers, but who cares, your making massive amounts of "cheddar"

lol, damn yall are mean...

Illest, tell me why would you want to copy someone elses style or copy a format, another "artists" blueprint.

why don't you create your own rubic, and get other carbon copying cookie cut-out rappers such as yourself trying, to copy of you one day.

That's the type of shyt about rappers nowadays that disgusts me. instead of committing the time to perfecting a style they wanna go back to the format. Or taking the time to earn a hit, the lazy rapper like yourself would much rather copy from someone else.

Go against the grain, **** the trend homie. I own this style, I own these rhymes.

hardcore rap lyrics, or do you mean that east coast philosophical ****, but if u meen hardcore rap lyrics, just listen to soem x-raided, and there u go.

...there is no rubric or guidelines for rap... the lyrics all come from your own head. if you want to think up some crazy sh*t just freestyle in slow-mo all day and think of things that rhyme but make sense. it will still not be like anyone else, cuz its from your own head.

heres a good way to practise tho...
EX: now im about to freestyle...(think about it) you cant match lee's style...
(think about it) im so happy i got a kool-aid smile... (thhink about it) because i just saw myself on girls gone wild!.. just start with 1 line and think of all the possibillities.
if you do that enough it will come naturally in your freestyle and will be easier to think when writing.
^hope this helps... peace... got the jeans with the crease... fingers drippin chicken grease... im smokin swisha sweets, but i forgot to pay my lease!.. heh

oh yea... heres another good way to practise that me and my homie kinda invented. (that we know of)

say your a,b,c's just keep going till sumthin just pops up in your head that rhymes with the letter...

EX: a, b, c, d, i got to be a G...(think about it) etc...
a, b, c, d, e, southside till i d.i.e, smokin on tree to ease the misery. pain is all i see since the days of elementary. my dad locked up in the federal penitentiary<spelled wrong... but you get the idea...
if you do this alot the crazy lyrics you think up will stick in your head, and they will lead to more crazy lyrics... just take it slow and try to tell a story with it, but you can always throw in a (neutral line) as i like to call it that really dosnt go with the story.
EX: one day, i was smokin on hay. just chillin in the city by the bay, where the criminals play, with a.k's and blades.neutral>im wearin versace shades< well take ya life away if you step the wrong way. i told you hoes, in bacliff we dont play... see? its all a story bout my hometown then i just threw in sumthin that rhymes to take up time and make it come together.

everything ive been saying is freestyle, it so ez if you practise like this.^

i hope all this helps. it works for me.
you might not even be able to make sense of anything ive posted because its all from my own brain... and im insane.

o thanks again...illtry that one too...

hey do you know any writing tips also?
like a game that i can do that'll help me write better?

thanks-

do what i said above^ every day...
you will have alot of rhymes in your head that you never thought of b4.
sit down, listen to a beat on continuous play, start with a introduction line(like the beginning of a story). you know how you get likt writers block sumtimes and just cant think of sumthin that would rhyme and make sense? well if you practise^ then that wont happen nearly as often... the lyrics are in your head. it will come naturally. you just gotta trust me on that. it also helps to have a thesaurus/dictionary if you start repeating words, you can look it up and use another word with the same meaning... just do those 2 practise methods for a week, then sit down and write. you will write things that you cant even beliave came from your brain. youll be like, damn! i wrote that?!

listen to my advise and soak it all in. practise daily and you will be thanking me... im a freestyle pro, been doin it since 3rd grade. im straight hookin you up with game from my brain. in the future when im famous and your on th rise... youll see me on tv and be like, i got my game from the best of em. Lee Mc.(Bacliff Boys)
good luck. hit me up after a week of practise and tell me how its going...

well this might help..

learn to structure your bars..and be able to tell the difference between similes and metaphors..ive listen to papoose's style and he is on that straight gutter street/lyricalness..so developing a style like his will be a bit easy but difficult since lyrical styles are developed through ones personality..but whatever i speak from my own expirience ive been spittin bars for a bit getter better by day..

but what i ment by structuring your bars (lines) is how you plan to rhyme them, you can follow simple rhyme schemes for this..and something to help develop your flow would be your word count or amount of words you use in your lines, since your starting out just write your rhymes/raps for now freestyle comes in later after you have some basics in rhyming..uhm, i can show you how i rap if you down to chat through aol or aim, can hit me up at Grandth3ftmlf

papoose is nice by the way, but if you think his style is nice, then whipp out your music downloading software and download some tracks by Big Pun and Big L , thats were papoose got his style from...holla!!

i know a lot of rappers started out trying to emulate the styles of their favorite rappers. dont copy, but you can try immitate the way another lyricist puts together verses.

if you experiment enough you'll start to feel comfortable with some things and develope your own style. you said the rapper "papoose" writes complex verses--study his lyrics and look for rhyme schemes in them.

when you write lyrics, mix it up. use metaphors and similes and be creative. if you can, rhyme multiple syllables, but be careful not to sacrifice meaning and coherency for a more complex rhyme. rappers like talib kweli, common, and earlier eminem are all good at that.

that's just one way, there are millions. listen to more hip hop and create your own style of rhyming. if you really cant do it, then maybe rapping isn't your thing.

an innovator would follow MNK_DS's advice: Go against the grain, **** the trend homie. I own this style, I own these rhymes.

word.

^Big Pun is(was) off the chain...
just thought i'd say that.
...ps. nobody pays much attention to eminem anymore, but you can learn a thing or 2 just by listening to his songs.

also, alot of ppl say that freestyle skills come after writing for awhile. i disagree.
maybe its just me, but i used to always get stuck when trying to write
so i would just freestyle and sumthin would come up.
