Will NBA 2K6's music be better?

2K Sports today announced some details on the soundtrack of its upcoming basketball game, NBA 2K6. The game will feature original and exclusive tracks from some of hip-hop's established and up-and-coming acts.

"Basketball and hip-hop culture have always been connected at the street level, so we wanted to ensure that NBA 2K6's vibe is as authentic as the gameplay," said Tim Rosa, director of marketing and promotions for 2K Sports.

The game will feature 14 new tracks from The Roots, Common, Aesop Rock, Aceyalone, Lyrics Born, RJD2, Zion I, Jean Grae, Hieroglyphics, and others. The soundtrack will also be released on CD. The artists will be promoting the game and soundtrack on the "2K Sports Bounce Tour" this fall.

2K Sports also revealed a new mode in the game, "The Entertainer's Basketball Classic at Rucker Park" mode. This mode is the first gaming rendition of the popular celebrity basketball classic held in New York. The mode will feature playable hip-hop big shots, including Flava Flav, Method Man, Redman, and more.

NBA 2K6 will be released on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 this fall.

I don't care what they put on there as long as I don't have to hear anymore of that guy whispering "Is she on crack?". (Or whatever he says) What do yall think?
 
I would rather play basketball then play a sports game, but that soundtrack sounds really ****ing good... might have to pick up the soundtrack to this game... Common, the Roots, Hieroglyphics, AND RJD2?
 
Damn...sounds dope...I guess they're trying to keep up with EA cause they bring the heat musically too on their games.

They've got a few underground Bay Area artists on there too...

Definitely gonna be worth the $ 20 ...hopefully its still $20.


edit: and 2K is by FAR a better game than LIVE.

lol !If you like making EVERY three pointer you shoot. Or if you like dunking a lot...then yes ! LIVE is more arcade...where 2K is more of a simulation game IMO. But...to each his own ! Pay your $50 !! :D


Okay...I'm a chump...I bought LIVE...but only for the 3-point and slam dunk contests.

turn up the difficulty level,that's all you needed to do. I only play 5 min quarters, plus I heard all that managerial stuff in 2k was tedious then a muh.

But your heart made you get LIVE anyway, so it doesn't matter
 
Live is for wussy Kirk fans. Altho it does look like it'll have drastic improvements this yr. I hurd 2K6 is completely reworking their gameplay engine from scratch which could be a HUGE hit or miss with loyal fans. I've also had my eyes on the nextgen developments, which could be the time Live really takes the title back, IF it can stay true to the sim roots... looks like they have graphics on lock. Remains to be seen about gameplay. I'm just ready for bball too comeback, I'm glad football is on the horizon tho... I can't stand watching baseball!

I hope they do. Because getting wrong calls on fouls and seeing Shaq hit three's ain't cuttin it on 2K5.
 
i never really played the 2k's since 2k2 on dreamcast so i cant bash it

im a EA fan all the way...madden 06 is wussup Live is gonna be ill

im a fan of EA all the way to got damn nascar
 
Do they play music during the actual gameplay? I know they play it in the menu screens and stuff.

I haven't had the displeasure of playing a sports game for a while now.

Yeah it's like the real NBA they play clips as the teams move up and down the court. With the Xbox you can add your own custom music to the game. I'm to lazy to add reverb to every single track for realism though.
