So i bought a Vestax PDX-2000 about 7 years ago on eBay. I used it for a couple of months to scratch and stuff (it played fine) then put it in storage. I hooked it up the other day and when i lay down the tonearm on the record the needle just slides across the record and doesn't catch on the groove. I thought the needle was damaged so i bought a new numark cartridge from the guitar center but it does the same exact thing -- just slides across the record as if there were no grooves. I balanced the tonearm and adjusted the weight. What am i missing here? It doesn't seem like the table is damaged...
