HI!
I very recently bought a Vestax vmc002 mixer to play around with and maybe to upgrade BUT the problem is recently as i turn it on there is a lot of static in the crossfader and no sound out of any outputs and then after about a minute everything resolves itself - just wondering if anybody knew any solution or why this would be happening??! COmments greatly appreciated, thanks:monkey:

I don't know about the static in the crossfader but I do know that when you power up a Vestax mixer you get no sound at first and if you look at your LED meters upon power up you'll see them light up then turn off. The sound should kick in within 15 seconds or so. It's pretty much normal procedure.

the delay is so that you don't blow your speakers powering up your mixer eg, you got a record going, you turn on your mixer, forgot to lower the channel volume, poof! speakers blown out.

Static? Clean or replace your crossfader. If dust, or dirt get into the CF and get onto the contact rails, you get static sounds.

Take it out, take it apart, clean the contact rails, you should be good to go.

is the sound coming from both channels??

verify that because the problem might even be coming from one of the turntables!

an other vestax VMC issue??

Hey Dj Paneer!I know this is a kind of old thread but I just bought a brand new Vestax VMC-002 XL mixer and I have come across an issue. So I just read your thread and since you too are a VMC002 user maybe you could help:
If I don't have a mic plugged in (in the mic socket of the mixer) and I turn the mic volume full blast I can hear (pretty loudly)the same sound from the speakers as the one the TV makes when it’s on but not tuned to a station(snowy screen)!!Does the same thing happen with your mixer?
Also, when I turn on my mixer I do have this delay that you talked about and according to the members that replied it's not a problem but a good thing. That would be great news for me but unfortunately things are a little different in my case:
When I press the button to turn on the mixer, sound doesn’t comes out as soon as I press it. 3-4 seconds pass then a weird “turned on and immediately turned off again” sound and then a longer/noticeable delay of 6-7seconds before sound comes on suddenly.Have you experienced that?
Thanks a lot!

Of course any VMC user is more than welcome to reply!!

if u can take the crossfader out i.e undo the screws to either side and check the connection to the main board the big (usually white) connector. i had that prob on my mixer

thanks for the response all. turns out it was just the protection mechanism so its all good im glad to hear people get this as well! In response to LERO i have no idea whats going on there lol.
another thing : ive been maintaining my crossfader regularly and its been keeping up just fine, until recently after i scratch for around five minutes it seems really resistant, as if somethings wrong with the contacts or magnets or something? Would a lubricant sort this out or is it time to get a new crossfader? thhanks

Hello!Uhm what I meant by my post was not to ask you to tell me the source of the problem but only if the same thing happens with your mixer....Especially, the mic thing i would appreciate it if you could tell me when you don't have a mic plugged in and you turn the mic volume to the max do you get any noise? thanks!

hope you will find a solution to your fader problem, cheers!

Can any Vestax user help me and tell me if this is happening with their mixer?

Hey everyone, sorry for bringin up this old thread but i'm having some problems with my VMC002XL as well.
I recently upgraded to a PCV crossfader but it doesn't work properly. It feels like the curves are mirrored. When the crossfader is in the middle, both channels sound pretty silently and the volume goes up when i move the fader towards a channel. It acts like a volume fader or smth. It's not that bad when i switch the curve to smooth, but i upgraded especially cuz i wanted to bust some better cuts.
