Hey! I'm Bobby. I'm currently a happy owner of the MPD32. I know that because it is almost a slave instrument in a sense, it needs some other connection to run on. I for the most part use it with my Laptop, but recently, I've been looking into street performing. I was wondering if there was a way to use my MPD32 without hauling my laptop along. There's a DC port for external power, but what would I connect the MPD to for the sounds. I was thinking I could get a Zoom R16 or Zoom R24 and save some sounds on that. Could I do that? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

THe R16 and R24 and both still controllers.
You want something that stores samples and has a midi in/out.
Something like the RT223/Sp 303/404(along those lines.

As long as you can get power to all three(MPD.Sampler and some sort of monitors)you'll be ok.
Don't know why you would want to lug all of that around though, but good luck.

Peace

Thanks

Why would you need monitors? I'm trying to eliminate the need of monitors. Could I just use the MPD and connect it with an RT223 and plug that into some speakers?

Yeah,that's what i mean monitors/speakers.
Something where people would be able to hear.

Peace

They're not strictly controllers, they're multitrack recorders that double as audio interfaces & DAW controllers. But agreed, they don't work as samplers - no way to trigger the samples from an external devices.
