I was thinking about making a remix or a summer mix from song(s) I do NOT own and uploading it to my soundcloud. How do I do that without breaking any copyright laws?...Will I be fined or something if I break them?

You probably won't be fined. As long as you don't make any money of the remixes, you probably don't have to worry. And you'll probably be breaking copyright laws, but that isn't much of a big deal when you're not making any money from it.

Just my two cents. By the way, I'm not a lawyer, I just have been uploading tons of sampled beats and remixes to SoundCloud, and never had any problem with it.

Soundcloud occasionally does take down copyrighted material, though - this mostly seems to affect mixtapes.

When I started making songs, I made a remix of a song I liked, and uploaded it into soundcloud. This was like 5 months ago, and until now, nothing happened.

Just go for it and wait for someone to say something! As long as you're not selling it on, you'll most likely get away with it. Allow it for download and spread the wealth!

Just do it, no one cares until you start making money.

They don't do shit. I know this clown that keeps uploading his favorite songs on soundcloud yet nothing has been done about it
Plus you have already stated that it's a remix so you won't have any problems at all

Just upload it and **** them if they have an issue with it lol

It's an automatic identification system, actually. Sometimes it works, sometimes it...doesn't. I'm also not sure whether or not the rightsholder has to call it out before the system kicks in - I do know that lots and lots of dj mixes have been taken down.

Yeah, something like that. I've no idea of the technical details, though - Youtube uses a huge database of video & audio to compare against. I can only assume the SC thing is something similar.

I've never once experienced any issues with my SC remixes. I doubt you'll run into any trouble. Good luck.
