i wish to record turntable scratch samples into my productions. which is the better way to go as far as sound quality goes. turntable to mixer to line in on soundcard or turntable straight to line in on soundcard. i have a soundblaster audigy by the way.

definitely turns to mixer then soundcard, if you don't have a phono pre-amp...

the regular output of the turntables lack in bass but are high in the high and mid ranges..
so you need an amplifier (built in in the mixer or a seperate phono pre-amp) to regulate this..

--> plug the turns into phono-in of mixer, then the main output into line-in of the soundcard ;)
