Trouble sending to/using a bus

Right so I have three different tracks in my logic arrange window all variations of a simple kick drum loop. I wanted to compress/EQ them altogether so i sent them to bus 1. It was my (incorrect?) understanding that the Aux 1 channel in my mixer would control this bus. However when i play with compression/EQ it makes no difference in sound to my drum loops. I'm definitely not doing something right, can anyone help with this??
 
I've never worked in Logic but in Pro Tools you have to select the input of the Aux channel to be Bus 1 otherwise you're just sending signal somewhere and nothing is receiving the audio to process it and/or play it back...
 
if you want to mix them all together in aux 1 you should make their output that bus instead of just sending to that bus

if I understand correctly they're still outputting to their own tracks
