Personally, I thought the production classes were pretty good too. At IAR it's all what you make of the classes - the program is only about 9 months so if you slack off you won't get anything out of it. If you are serious, then there's no limit to what you can do. Fire Productionz was definitely right about the professors though, they are awesome!!
As for internships, the career services department is a huge help. They help you build your resume and then start sending it off to places before you even graduate. AND even after you graduate, you get lifetime service from them if you ever need help finding work.
