Hey guys,
I try to make kicks in kick2 but my kicks doesn't sound as loud as my reference kicks I try to recreate.
I take a kick from a sample pack route it to SPAN and my own kick too.. level match.. they peak the same and have same rms value and they even match tonally with the same frequency curve but the sample one sounds louder anyway. I also noticed I can turn up the master channel really loud while the samples kick is playing without distortion but when I do it with mine it distorts much faster and sounding piercing in a bad way.
What do you think is going on here? I try to learn the theory behind this.. I have noticed the times I have nailed a kicksdrum design by accident It's the same phenomena I can turn up the master really loud without distortion or harshness.
