Which open back headphones could you guys suggest for music making? I would prefer oval shaped cans.

Sennheiser HD 598 special edition black. I could not find anything better than this headphone with quality, design, and shape.

Is there anything better under $200?

So many people recommend M50x..lol. is it because it's affordable?
I tested out M50X and MK 3 Fortex at Guitar Center. I really didn't like those..

Placed an order for Sennheiser HD 600..omg
 
German Maestro ftw. No hifi sound. Balanced representation perfect for trying to mix on. Owned beyerdynamics and listened on Sony HD a lot as well. German Maestro is in my opinion better.
Mixing and mastering is a whole other discussion though.
You don't get room representation on a headphone. You'll need monitor speakers for that.
Also, tons of ppl choose to let ppl with the proper know how and hardware do the mastering.
Some others also choose to have the mixing done by others.
