SPOTANEOUS RESTARTATION

for some unknown strange reason, my computer spotaneously restarts. One time it restarted in the middle of a paper I was writing and I FORGOT TO SAVE!!!!I don't know whats wrong. Does anyone else have this problem or am I alone in this?
 
were u online when this happend? looks as if u've been trojaned get a virus scanner i use a free one from http://www.cai.com/products/inoculateit.htm also a thing called tauscan is good too for just trojans.

also get zone alarm that free that stops people getting to ur PC too, use all free and ur PC will be very safe, but make sure u configer them right
 
yeah.....i have a Linksys etherfast 4port cable router...which is also a built in firewall. I have cable internet. Although I could be trojaned. Someone(a friend) I know has been going into other people's computers and getting passwords and trojaning people and stuff....which I think is very bad...But i don't wanna report him... I hope its not....I ran inoculate pt and Mcaffee but They all found nothing and and the stuff had been happening before I scanned too!
 
arrrrggggghhhhh......it(the comp) just freaked out again......I put on some music and then I leave for a while and come back....the music has stopped so I try to get out of winamp....everything freezes....all of the sudden the moniter turns off and can't turn back on.....meanwhile the computer is still onand then I have to reboot everything....grrrrr.......I've ran the trojan protectors, I have a firewall, and I've used virus protectors........THIS WHOLE THING HAS GOTTEN ME PARANOID......what to do?what to do?what to do?

i presume ur on windows98 :( i hate it, try a fresh reinstall, or get norton utilites this is quite useful, or if u can swap to win2000 its more stable but be careful what u put on it because it doesn't like somethings as i've found out with NT, my PC rarely crashes or messes up, thank god, otherwise it would have gone out the window by now
 
also try clicking tool in IE and get all the window updates u need
