Sound Quality question.

I'm going to buy a pair of studio monitors soon, they have both Jack and a XLR exit.
1) Is there any difference between Jack and XLR when we are talking about Sound Quality?
2) One friend of mine said that if I buy an adapter (XLR to 3.5 jack / Jack to 3.5 jack) the sound quality would be worse, is this true?

Appreciate any help and apologies for my english!

I don't think there's a quality difference if the cable = -5m short. I choose for XLR because it sticks tighter within the monitors.

Just inputs. The cbles you choose have more impact than the input, and even the cables you choose have very little impact...unless they're super cheap and full of static because of cheap components. As long as you pass the $1 cables at family dollar, you'll be fine.
