In this week's Pulse Report, the streets are buzzing about Field Mob dissing New York, Damon Dash getting blackballed by Jay-Z, Dave Chappelle's new Esquire interview and Superhead...well, giving head.

1. Field Mob disses NY. Tru Life, Papoose and other rappers leading the new New York movement surely won't appreciate Field Mob's recent stab at big apple artists. Apparently fed up with talks of bringing New York back and criticism of dumbing down lyrics, Field Mob recently called out New York haters, "I be listening to CDs and **** and it be seeming like niggas be wanting to say **** the south, but they can't say **** the south, so they be like let's bring New York back," Shawn J. expressed, providing a Jim Jones-eque imitation of New York rappers. "You a gay ass nigga if you worried about how another nigga operate." The duo then clowned NY slang, mockingly complimenting each other by repeatedly using NY expressions like "you fire son," "it's crazy" and "yo b."

2. Dash blackballed by Jay-Z. As cold as he's reputed to be, Dame seemingly got a taste of his own medicine recently. Forget the stuntastic swagger, Dash is hurting... hurting bad. In King Magazine's upcoming June issue, the international ******* spoke on his split with Hov. "My best friend did some **** to me that I never thought in a million years he would do," Dash told King. "It was straight war in there. Either you on Jay's side or Dame's side." So did Jiggaman blackball Dash? Well, how else would a man who signed Roc-A-Fella's only two platinum artists (Cam'ron and Kanye West), minus Jay-Z, not be able to secure a deal. According to the self-proclaimed cakeaholic, Jay had his projects frozen. Apparently, he is also seen as the "violent guy" and the "Bin Laden" while the God emcee is perceived to be laid back. Dash may be keeping his fingers crossed for a reunion, because the mogul says there's no love lost between he and president Carter. "I don't respect what he [Jay] did, but I'm not gonna let that wash away all the other stuff we did do," Dash offered. "For the most part, he's a good nigga." King Magazine's June issue hits newsstands April 25.

3. Chappelle cites cultural and personal reasons for leaving. Dave Chappelle ain't crazy. He's just fed up. At least he was. Several months after appearing on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," Dave dug a little deeper on his reasons for leaving his Comedy Central hit series. In a 10-page article in Esquire Magazine, the comedian gave more insight into his departure. "The bottom line was, white people own everything, and where can a black person go and be himself or say something that's familiar to him and not have to explain or apologize?" Chappelle told Esquire. After speaking on the pressure he felt while working on the third season, Dave stated, "The thing about show business is that, in a way, it forces dysfunctional relationships in people." "Chappelle's Show" may not be the end after all. Dave said he'd be willing to return to TV if he can find the right situation.

4. Superhead caught on tape. Unbeweavable! Forgive the cliché expression, but that's exactly what Superhair, oops, I mean Superhead looked like during a recent appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." Remember Halle Berry's movie B.A.P.S? She was sporting that kind of hairstyle, a straight up hair show experiment. But that's not the subject at hand. Word is, the world is soon to see how Miss Karrine Steffans earned her "Superhead" moniker. Before giving intellectual attention to the likes of Ja Rule, Diddy and Jay-Z, she gave porn star Mr. Marcus a hummmm job. Superhead is Steffans' only venture into the porn industry. "The thing that stood about her was that she gave incredible head," he told AVN. "She created something off that one act that people are still talking about today." The DVD was assembled from an old scene off Marcus' Cool Spot DVD.

5. Latifah gets on welfare. Royalty huh? Well, at least not in her next movie. Reports say Queen Latifah has just signed on to star on Welfare Queen. Based on a true story, the flick details the life of a woman who became rich by conning the welfare system. The movie will be produced by Flavor Unit in conjunction with Edmonds Entertainment.

"This is the first major deal we've signed with a studio, and we did it because we felt confident we could go from 'Welfare Queen' to 'Horror in the Hamptons,' which is a script by Alex Mirkin about a bunch of 16 year-olds chopping each other up," Latifah told Variety. "We get our hands on a lot of material we can do well, and our dream is to work up to producing three movies a year. The deal isn't based on me being in every film." In other news, Flavor Unit recently signed a deal with Focus Features and Rogue Pictures. Latifah and Flavor Unit's Shakim Compere also hope to release Reality Sucks, a spoof on reality TV shows.

Dame and Jay-Z Oh My!

Id put Field Mob in the top 5 southern emcees catagory, so their arguement holds some weight. But at the same time, they need to realize that majority rules. For every decent down south rapper, there are atleast 10 wack southern rappers riding in on their coat tail.

I think it's time for the South to get in that ass just like the West did when Pac was living.

Don't pop shlt, Drop shlt. I wana hear it in songs.

fukc field mob

new york IS hip hop. the south will be dead in a year and a half.

what a bunch of ignorant douchebags

"you fire son" "yo b"

because those guys speak perfect english, and i especially love how their voices AREN'T ANNOYING AT ALL.

someone needs to clown them HARD

The minute the south "decides" to get in that ass, will be when the south's reign will come to an end. The south's trump card has been and remains to be music for strip clubs. If they try to venture out from that to make battle/diss tracks towards the East Coast, they will fall off. Quote me on that. The south doesnt have the lyrical resources to pull off an onslaught like this.

But you can't knock what they said though. tell me you haven't heard at least 1 NY rapper say something about "we need to bring NY back". It comes across as a subliminal message like...you minus well go head and say "i'm tired of this south ****"...if that's how you feel.

Plus that **** goes the same for NY rappers too. For every 1 NY rapper theres 15 clones.

yeah you're right, but the dude that said that about the south, i think he meant MAJOR artists that are SIGNED... like 10% of them are decent (maybe).

lyrically, there isnt nearly as much garbage in NY as there is in the south.

and there is no denying that.

All NY emcee's sound the same to me. I don't even check for any of 'em.

Give me Southern party music over some mean-mugging, I got 5 burners in my jackets and my mans and 'nem gonna beat down your fam...

Southern beats just have more soul and I can relate to the beats more.... eventhough a lot of the artists sound uneducated... on purpose. D4L and DFB are not southern artists...

I saw Field Mob spit on Rap City... they'll eat up over half of the NY emcee's. Their songs don't normally sound like what they spat that day... spat. ha ha. (shoulda said spitted-ed).

I guess they have people telling them to make songs, instead of battle raps to cause confrontation with some dudes that's made about the success of songs.
Like the song they have with Ciara.

Let's face it... NY party songs... are drink break songs.

Ms. New Booty > Touch it for the club...

second post in a row just because im pissed (and im not from the south or the east coast)

but why the fukc does everyone get so sensetive in hip hop? new york rappers say they want to bring it back to their city (because THEY are responsible for the genre, thats like rocknroll popping off in new zealand and everyone stops listening to american rock, wtf), and southern rappers take offense to that?! like its a stab at them!!

there are some real hip hop artists in the south (even ones rapping on southern beats), but the garbage that we hear on the radio is ALL southern and it is NOT hip hop.

Exactly the point I was making.

The south has the club scene on lock. But once they decide that they have grown big enough grapefruits to enter the battle/diss realm and actually try to be lyrical, they will get their feelings hurt. Badly. Consequently, resulting in the end of their dynasty.

BTW... Touch it remix >>> Ms Booty Booty EVER'WHAAARE!!

I love this thread, it's going to be so much fun!!!!

But anyway back to this statement, if you would have said "most" garbage music on the radio is from the South, I wouldn't say anything, but you said "ALL". Wow I'm not going to ruin my up-start career :D to even start naming names of NY emcees on the radio that are pure trash. But trust me there are some.
