Is there a way so a track in Cubase only listens to data for a particular MIDI channel, as opposed to all incoming channels?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

What is the problem that it's causing you? Are you playing your midi keyboard and hearing several different tracks' instruments playing at the same time?

yeah..you choose the MIDI port you want that MIDI track to use..Duh!!

time to read the MANUAL..or atleast click on he HELP menu....christ...

Setting the MIDI channel on the track only sets the output channel. It still takes all the incoming MIDI data and treats it like it is on the selected channel.

I'm going to be using Cubase as part of my live setup and I want to be able to just switch MIDI channels on my controller and have different VST instruments react depending on which channel I have selected.

STFU about reading the manual. I always check there first. If you check my posts here I'm doing a lot more answering than asking.

I use a 1820...just like the one in my sig :D....It has 2 sets of MIDI INS/Outs..I still have the old SBLIVE installed as well..When I create a new MIDI track, I simply change the "IN" from "ALL MIDI INPUTS" (Which is probably what you have it set to) to 1 of my 3 MIDI INPUTS.....

READ MANUAL AGAIN, NOW!!!!!...

Nah man, that's not what I'm looking to do. I already have the specific input selected, but keep in mind every MIDI port has 16 channels.

If I want a particular MIDI track to, say, only react to information coming in on channel 2, how do I do that? Setting the track channel to channel 2 doesn't do this, as it just plays whatever comes in regardless of the MIDI channel.

I know Pro Tools has the MIDI input channel option right out in the open. If Cubase has this feature, it's pretty hidden.

OHHHHHH... Now I get it...Sorry for all the smart ass comments...What you are trying to do may be found under the MIDI Device Manager..from the Devices Menu...This allows you to create midi devices...Im not too familiar with it..but that seems to the way to go.

Thanks man, I'll read over all those. I really do appreciate all the help.

I'm using the LynxOne sound card which has two MIDI Ins and two MIDI Outs. My MIDI controller is on input one, so in Cubase I select "LynxOne MIDI In 1". Right now I'm using SX 2, but I'm going to upgrade soon.

I was looking at that but it seemed so un-intuitive, I ignored it...good find

Yeah, the manual is pretty ****ty for telling you how to use it too. But now that I understand how it's structured I can do damn near anything.

thanks

This is exactly what I needed! Thanks for posting!
