sampling in the mpc from a zip disk

I am using the mpc 2000xl and I want to sample from an mp3 file and I don't have a cd player yet that I can use to record straight to the mpc. So, is it possible to upload an mp3 or .wav file onto a zip disk and then import it into the mpc and chop it there? if so, how do I do it?

convert the mp3 to wav 16.44.1 put it on the zip disk put zip disk in mpc load as u would any other sample

thanks, but how do you chop it into segments after you load it? what menu would I go to?

TRIM screen -Shift+5....if you have the 2000xl you can press F4? to go to zone to get pieces down
