I would love to see which of the hottest songs used samples from what.
Earlier in another thread it was mentioned freeways " what we do"
came from " I just cant see myself without you"

just as "hey ma" - cam' ron
came from commodores "easy like a sunday morning"

cam' ron - oh boy = rose royce - "im going down"

anyone else know of some?
 
Man there lots of hot sh*t out there that uses samples....

2pac "Stairin At The World Through My Rearview" samples Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight", Freeway's "Nightshift" samples The Commodores' "Nightshift", man I could go on for ever.

"agent orange" by Cage. I think Necro produced it . he got the sample from A Clockwork Orange

If you're looking for what has been sampled check out this site. It has tons of listings. Just search by artist...i.e. Dre, Mobb Deep, etc.
 
wow excellent posts fellas , its intresting to know what came from where on your favorite songs. alot of songs i made assumptions on that it was played, but most were sampled . thats wild fam.

yeh i think sometimes its ok to do interpolations - i mean, like nuthin but a g thang - realistically i wouldnt have heard that beat had it not been for dre, so....

but yeh definitely mate the alltime best HAS to be regulate...
 
i like it when producers sample sum crazy **** and it works (to me), like EZ Elpee's "Oochie Wally" from "Gong - Bambooji" or Timbaland's "Big Pimpin" from that crazy arabic song which name i cant remember. but i guess they werent that creative with the samples. Kanye West sampling the Doors was pretty sick, and he did something with that sample, rather than jus loop/interpolate it.

also, anyone know where alchemist got the sample for Jadakiss/Ras Kas's song Were Gon Make It/Home Sweet Home? that sample was sick.
 
ya that alchemist sample was nuts. dog props to anyone who knows that samples whereabouts. the lenny williams - because i love you on the prodigy song
