Just put this together today. Did a hasty mix so not at its best. Let me know what you think about everything.. the concept, the arrangement, what the mix needs, if it's got potential to be a good song. All feed returned, and like always, please give completely honest feedback.. you don't to sugar-coat anything with me, I won't be offended. Thanks.

Nice job with that vocal sample dude. Great work. Not much to criticize. It definitely has potential to being a good song. I do think it's a bit long but that's alright if you plan on having someone spit over it.

yo this beat is dope and the sample is pretty crazy but that one synth or somethin is too high pitched, like its piercing my ear lol maybe it's just my computer tho

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I have a tendency to arrange my songs too long.. but I'll prob try to find an acapella to drop on it so I can hear it with words.

Thanks a lot. No you are right, after I bounced it for the first draft I definitely noticed the mid-range area hurting my ears. I think my ears getting damaged because a lot of my songs turn out that way! I'll have to mix it with a reference track so I don't overload the 1k area.

You could beef up the snare some, and those toms could be panned out. The bass could be lower. There's alot of high ends that need to be cut out...Not trying to be a dick

Nah not at all, this is the stuff I want to hear. Actually you're spot on. These are all things I thought when I threw that quick mix on there but if I can't fix something in a short amount of time I put it on the list of things to do otherwise I'll sit there for 30 min trying to make it right then lose my focus. I never even touched the toms actually.. def need to work them in there. Bass definitely needs work the play nice with the kick, and I know exactly what you mean about the snare. I want that nice 150hz thud in there but I need to layer it with another snare bc the one i have in there now does not have that frequency in there to boost. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, this is a nice track. I agree with most of the comments on tweaking the mix. Mixing is really an art form in itself, it's like you gotta take off your programmer hat and put on the mixer hat. Take the levels down and rebuild the mix from scratch starting with the basic elements - kick, snare, bass. Not worth the trouble for every track, but I think this one is. Plus it's a great learning experience.

Please check out my track when you get a chance:

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I only spent prob 20 min on the mix.. so I would actually say it hasn't been mixed yet. Actually there are still some production tasks I wanna take care of on this track before I start a formal mix. Listening to your track now.

EDITP: You didn't leave a link to a feedback thread so I'll just leave it here.

The quality of the sounds were very stockish.. The production is very musical though.. I would venture to say you have a musical background? Again though the sounds are pretty cheesy.. I could hear this in some kind of video game or a stock cell phone ring tone. Not sure what your aim was with the track, but if it was for something widely accepted and radio-ish I don't think this is it. It's well produced none the less.

Dammn I fux with the beat, I think the mixin is good too, followed you

Yo returning feed. I like the sample arrangement and the style you went for with this. Obviously you already know about the mix so I won't comment on that. I think there's a couple notes that in that pattern of staccato high synths that goes on throughout the song that do not match the key. They sound really dissonant to me personally. I like the drum pattern though and I'd like to hear someone spit over this.

If you wanna keep the feedback going check me out here: https://www.futureproducers.com/forums/production-techniques/showcase-your-music-give-receive-feedback/new-michael-jackson-sampled-beat-rap-%2Asoulful%2A-100%25-f4f-448186/

Damn sir you are right. I went back and checked and the bassline was off. It's B minor. Thanks man. This should help during the real mixdown.

I think this would sound sweet with someone spitting over it, but have to agree about the stockish sounding drum tones etc. I think simply switching them for something a bit different would boost this 10x, great work!
