Free? No. "..this style is not free, this style is expensive."

Do a search on Google for "free sample packs" ~ you'll see free packs from all the major labels. They're out there.

But I do know that *for the moment* if you need some solid drum, bass or synth samples The Drum Sample Broker is half-off everything.

Have you googled the words free sample packs?

You can get some good results. You might also want to try soundfonts. Some Soundfonts are not that great but some are very good.
There was one that I am still looking for that is quite capable for pop with its realistic drum and solo string sounds.

But you would have to hear that one for yourself to judge.

I was also hoping to get some VST to soundfont converter is it exists. The links for the Proteus VX soundfont were in another thread but are broken and no one has responded to my requests for that information.
A few people have acquired them.
 
Dude just get the reaper demo or lmms. Cause I honestly wouldn't wanna go through that kinda trouble with all the free stuff available on the net. The reaper demo is fully functional ey
