I'm looking for a sample chopping program that will let me press a key while the sample is playing to insert a slice, as well as let me set a predetermined time for each slice (say 1/8 or 1/16 notes). I'm using recycle now and it doesn't seem that its capable of doing either of these tasks.

Anyone know of something that will work for me?

dude how hard is it in recycle to just stop the track and place a slice? It takes me less then 10 minutes to chop a song up. Recycle is the best, just quit being lazy

You obviously don't get it. What you are comfortable doing is not cutting it for him.

Try phatMatik pro. It doesn't have all the options of the recycle/nn-xt combo but it allows quick chopping while playing the sample within your daw. I too got tired of chopping in recycle. phatMatik pro won't completly replace recycle but it might be what you are looking for.

If you like to manualy chop samples Shortcircuit free is very good as a vsti solution.
I personaly prefer the vsti slicing route. I might initialy sample in a wave editor, but only to set start, and end points.
Vsti slicing has the advantage of auditioning while chopping, and composing at the same time. Plus all editing is non destructive so you can edit slice points even after your song is finshed without having to go into another program.

10 minutes is 10 minutes I could be doing something better with my energy. what type of sense does it make to try to follow the cursor in the window to insert slices on beats of the song when i can just tap along to it. For all the money propellorheads makes, you'd think they would incorporate a little more common sense things into this program.

Get adobe audition or go with Edison in FL Studio they thought of all of that !

I bought phatmatik.. read the "manual" and cant find the function where you can chopping by pressing a button while the sample is playing. Can anyone help?
