RODE NT1A vs SE ELECTRONICS X1?

Hey.

Im a producer and rapper from Denmark and I'm slowly building a home studio. I currently got a USB mic but I want to upgrade it to a better mic.

I have been looking at the RODE NT1A and the SE ELECTRONICS X1 which are in the same price range. Problem is that I cannot decide which to get - I don't have the chance to listen to one of those or look at them because I don't know anybody owning those.

Which one would you prefer for a little bit deep-voiced boy? I will get the whole NT1A package plus a stand but the SE ELECTRONICS X1 package includes their reflexion filter and a SE popfilter.

I also need something which delivers the phantom power to the mic. The best and cheapest.

Thank you very much.

I have the rode nt1a. great mic if your on a budget. Vocal come out clear. Get the filter with it because it does pick up surrounding sounds

I've heard good things about the NT1A but is it any good for a rapper? I've heard that the mic makes the vocals bright and is commonly offered for smooth-voiced singers.

Bump - I still didn't get the answer I was looking for.

Okay thank you for your help. I just need someone with the X1 to tell me how the mic is etc.

I bought the X1 after I saw these tests sE made. Be aware, I do not work for sE or trying to send them customers. I am a honest rapper trying to help other people who is confused like I was before I saw these results:

Rode NT1-A, sE X1 Mic, Neumann TLM 102, AKG Perception P220 Blind Test

If you think about it, they're not going to publish something and say "sure, other mics test better than ours. But buy our microphone anyways." For the most part, you can ignore the marketing.

With that said, they're both going to be slightly different but 1 not necessarily better than the other. You'll probably feel the same about either of them. If you've read multiple reviews where one had the sound that you wanted more than the other, then go for that.

You are right, but I have seen many reviews and asked many people who own both mics and they preferred the X1 because I can use it to record instruments to while the NT1-A lack a bit in that part.

That is an absolutely ridiculous statement for anyone to make.

Anybody who says something like that has proven they are not worth listening to.

It is perfectly reasonable for someone to say they like one mic over another, but to say you cant use the rode (or any other mic) to record "instruments" or even that it is somehow "lacking a bit" for that... well, that is just plain stupid... doesn't even make sense.

Not sure if I missed something , the OP mentioned using a USB mic and then mentions a need for a phantom supply .
To me this hints that the OP has neither a pre amp , or an audio interface (using PC mobo audio) .

Could be wrong (as often:P) , but it would be a large financial consideration WRT original request .
