ok guys i'm sure something like this has probably been posted before but i couldn't find it. i wanted to know which mic is better for general use but mainly for recording vocals. the rode nt 1a or the akg c3000b.

For vocals a Studio Projects C1 at $199 is much better than either of those.

close competetion I would go with the akg i used it before

guys i'm in a position where its either the nt1a or the c3000b so even though the nt2 and c1 are great i need to know which mic is better. THE NT1A OR THE AKG C3000B. sorry guys i probably didnt make it clear enough first time round.

ive been told by some major producers that the rode nt's are greeeeeeeeeat microphones....im about to pick up a rode nt1000 myself i think

yes,the rode nts are brilliant.Go for the nt1a or better still nt1000-they're way quieter than the akg3000 thingy. The ntk is good and v.warm but if you must own one neutral mic, make it a rode Nt1000.

The NT1000 sounds great, and quite classy. I didn't like the NT1a at all. It sounded very cheap.

Guitar Center is blowing out the last of the NT1000s for US$200, so you have no excuse not to buy one if you're in the US.

The c3000b also sounded cheap, but less annoying then the NT1a.

So I'd say: NT1000 if you can find one, c3000b if you can't.
