Ok im trying to figure out the right term for this I call it excutive producing

I was watching a p diddy interview and he said he dosent play instruments

or even touch the hardware he said he just hums the melodys and the programer would make it for him

there was a video with kanye with jeff bhasker and ye was humming melodies

what is the term called when you have ideas but you get a programer or producer to

make em for you. PLEASE SAY ITS EXECUTIVE PRODUCING BECAUSE THATS WHAT I ALREADY CALL

Also what is called when you get a beat and you make tweaks and changes to it is it executive producing school me lol

Given the example you used, technically Diddy composed the melody and musician is transcribing it or simply playing it.

But when Diddy selects the sample and tells a beatmaker how it wants it chopped, yes, that's executive production. But business wise, I think Diddy gets EP credits(points) for albums but also requests credits as a composer on a split sheet so he can earn publishing royalties.
