I'm new to digging as far as going out and buying records I go to a lot of pawn shops and places with shady ass people trying to become a millionaire off of a couple of records so my question is what is the going rate for records I know there is a lot of stuff you can base price on but is there a way to know of your being giped or not?

I usually go to Salvation army & thrift shops to get vinyl.... on the odd occasion I want to really splurge on great jazz/soul records I go to a used vinyl shop/ bookstore down the way. I don't usually spend more than $5-6 per record there.

There are lots of rarities that go for big bucks. It has to be the right press and in nice shape to get the big money though. If you are interested in the ebay going prices of those records, look them up at popsike.com - vinyl records lp price guide - record collector. Internet prices often end up a bit high on rare stuff though..
