Rather have a minimoog model d or memorymoog?

Is a memory moog just a couple of minimoog's?

Can you import samples into the memory moog or does the memory part just refer to remembering patches?

The memorymoog does not have any storage space for samples...and no, the memorymoog is not just a bunch of minimoogs crammed into one box. That would weigh about 300 pounds. Instead, the memorymoog consists of CEM based oscillators and discrete filters (the same filters found in the minimoog).

so they are different instruments that make different sounds. name a song that is on the mini moog and one that is on the memory moog? also which one would u have?

Also are there inputs on the memory moog so that you can mess w/ inputing a 1/4

Is there an input with the mini moog so that you can mess with inputting a 1/4 input.

I dont know...I dont really want either. The MemoryMoog is notoriously unstable, and the Model D doesnt have MIDI.

If you want to hear a good MiniMoog song...listen to Flashlight by Parliament Funkadelic.

Why dont you look into some of the more modern alternatives to the MiniMoog and MemoryMoog? The SE-1x and Voyager are great substitutes for a Model D, and the Andromeda can do a decent MemoryMoog immitation.

It doesnt really sound to me that you know too much about the Model D OR the MemoryMoog. What sparked your interest in them in the first place?

hey arrak could i run some cords into my triton from the minimog and get that thick phat bass into my triton?

you know a lot about moogs it sounds like. i asked my friend and he said yeah but i should ask a professionl.

rockuez- why you want a ninimoog?

I played around with a mini moog model d, and it had the midi adaptation. It was fat and sounded way better in my opinion then the arturia plug in. It just sounded awesome

"this instrument is 6 Minimoogs in one box that will store 100 programmed patches"

This is why I was wondering why I shouldn't just get the memory moog.

I forgot does the mini moog have an 1/4 in to mess with input sonuds.

I also got an emu emulator II out of storage and i was thinking about getting that after the mini moog.

You missed the part that says:

"Unlike the Minimoog, the Memorymoog used Curtis 3340 chips as opposed to the Moog oscillators."

so is the memory moog a rompler compared to the analog mini moog?

Also anyone know about inputting sounds into the minimoog?

The mini moog model d was heavy as hell. It was seriously the fattest thing I ever heard.

I like this thread. :)

If monophony and no user preset storage is OK, get a Minimoog.
If you need polyphony and/or user preset storage, get a Memorymoog.
If you want a 100% stable Memorymoog and full (!) MIDI control you'd get a Memorymoog with the LAMM upgrade - see www.lintronics.de .
I'm doing the last reconstruction things in my studio so I can't record any memorymoog sounds right now, but ask me within a month or so and I'll let you hear some.

For Minimoog sounds: the bass sound in Adamski's "Killer", all synths sounds in Emerson Lake & Palmer's "Lucky Man" (like the scraping solo at the end), nearly all synth sounds in Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and Pink Floyd's "Dogs", etc...etc...

And neither the Mini neither the MM are romplers (shame on saying that) - they're 100% pure analog. With the purest analog oscillators and filters. Only semi-digital thing is the menu panel of the Memorymoog (the very primitive digit board showing the preset n°).

That’s really nice, THM! I’ve always wanted a MemoryMoog demo. It would be even nicer if you made some demos of your other cool gear too. There aren’t that much of well produced samples of vintage gear out, like your Elka demos on the review site.

Good luck with your studio!

Thanks Cubby !! In the meanwhile my studio will be expanded; I've got a JP-8 lately, a Kurzweil PC88 MIDI master keyboard (88 hammer-action keys, 4 MIDI zones, and great Kurzweil internal acoustic sounds) and I'll get a Yamaha CS-50 one of these days as well as a Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 (rev. 2 - fat SSM chips !! - and extra MIDI installed).
2005 is my lucky year...

That sounds nice! This must cost a lot of money! I have only money for one vintage monster, but I still don’t know what to choose. Everyone has their own unique pluss... if you know what I mean. :)
