I know Wiz Khalifa does this and some others (or most, havnt really paid attention to hip hop lately).
They get(and probably pay for) all original beats, singers, featuers etc. They put together a full, proper album. Release it for free, and call it a "Mixtape"?
From what i know, these "Mixtapes" have the best tunes & more experimentation, and then they try to sell a watered down version of that on ITunes.
Is there a reason for this? I thought mixtapes were supposed to be random verses over beats someone else used before?
