Hello guys,

I was wondering if someone has a guide or a tutorial video, made by someone that has experience with R&B instrumentals/beats. Like what has to be in there for it to sound good, what should I avoid and some basic strategies to start. I use FL studio 11 if that matters. I'll answer all questions about specs or anything else asap.

Thanks in advance

Anyone know how to recreate The Weeknd sound?

Ive been making R&B tracks for a few years now. Im not the best in the world, but I may be able to help you two out. Hit me up on twitter @djchev and ill shoot you my contact so I can give yall some advice via phone. In the meantime study R&b songs and try and learn the chord progressions. Then you can implement those same chord progressions and build from there.

This helped me make my first R&B beat that I was satisfied with, try it out:

Plz do not look at that vid...... Im sry its not very good R&B...

DJ chev said the right thing to do is study R&B & learn chord progressions..

Too get the Weeknd sound you should experiment with reverb on mostly every sound you would use on the beat (Except bass; causes clashes if not mixed right). His music is very simple its pretty easy to catch on.

Wut? Study? Music theory?
Is there an easy way, like 5-minute-tutorial easy way to make R&B?

take that tongue out of your cheek now man...... :)

There are scales that are common to different genres , but are not exclusive to them. Therefore music is frequency. I just used a synth from a dance loop pack to create a an RNB BEAT Mostly the difference is in tempo and the type if instruments used , and groove! But mostly it's the emotion! Study these elements and then you can mix it all up Good luck.

And for anyone using Reason 7 heres a little gem. ;)
