Where can I find the the de-esser in Cool Edit Pro...or does anyone knw where i can find any freeware vsts with a de-esser?

search google for digitalfishphone

they have some free dynamics stuff.

o okay...i heard it was in Cool Edit Pro anyone knw where...there is nothin exactly called de-esser so i need some help to getting to it thanks?

In waveform view:

Select region to process.
Effects > Amplitude > Dynamics Processing.
There are a few de-esser presets.

Lower threshold = easier to set compressor going (perhaps unmusically?)
Higher ratio = more agressive de-essing (ie compression in the sibilant frequency range)

Hope this helps.

It's not a 'real' de-esser. Just a bandlimited compressor. Get something that will runs VSTs as soon as possible. And get the digitalfishphones.

You guys are very helpful, But CE isnt VST capable so I cant use it in cool edit right? If thats the case where do I get one.

In other words , is cool edit not the best choice of recording programs.

Upgrade to Adobe Audition. Its basically the same thing except it does support vst and has a couple better editing tools

Adobe Audition 3 is a Beast. That sh*t makes the cloverfield monster look like a treasure troll, lol. Check it out on adobe's website. If I didn't know SONAR like the back of my had I would've scooped this up the day it was released.
