I cant tell you what to use, but I can tell you a inexpensive way. Get FL Studio Fruty Edition or Propellerhead Reason Essentials. They're both $100 each. You don't need both just one. They both have demos so try em out first. Its a good starting point. Worry about VSTs once you get things going. You just have more headaches trying to figure everything out.
