This problem occurs after I save my songs. I get the following message.

The sample format of the file being inserted is different than that of the multitrack session. Pressing OK will first make a copy of the file, then allow you to adjust the conversion settings.

When I press OK, it creates a copy, than goes the setting adjustments, there I get to choose the sample rate quality (low to high and pre/post filter), channels (mono/stereo), and the resolution (8/16,32 bit).

This takes quite a bit of time and I have to do this with every song that is saved in the session. I was wondering how do I get rid of this. I've made hundreds of songs without getting this message before. But now, every time I open a saved song to edit it, it goes directly to that. Even after I do all of the adjusting, the quality of the music is very poor compared to before. Is there anyway to get rid of this?

You probably have the default sample rate set differently. Any changes or new recording you make probably happen at a different sample rate. Then when having to save and everything needs to be the same, a lot of resampling goes on. Check the samples rate on your work to make sure that you are using the correct sample rate when you open a project.

Ok, but I tried to change the sample rate by selecting a new session and I tried every one of the sample rates from 6000 to 192000 but still I had to do the adjusting.

I tried searching on the net for an answer and found that on this thread, the person is having the same problem as me. Cool edit worked fine for many songs than suddenly every new project that you have to import songs on, you also have to spend time adjusting the rates. It takes way too much time and the quality is poor. The problem is unsolved in that thread. Anyone got any more info?

Make sure that the file you are importing also uses the same sample rate as your project. So adjust the sample rate on the imported file first, and then import it.

So how do you check the sample rate in a project/multitrack session?

Me too.

I've been recording a podcast* with CEP2 (6 episodes so far) (Usb mics and headsets)

It's been working fine up until last month, and I stuck an mp3 in that I ripped from YT.

Everytime I opened the session it told me that the mp3 sample blah blah and upsampled it.

At the end I had a file called:

R.Atkinson LIVE_ 03 - And Now, From Nazareth, The Amazing (44100 Hz) (44100 Hz) (44100 Hz) (44100 Hz.1) (44100 Hz) (44100 Hz) (44100 Hz) (44100 Hz) (44100 Hz) (44100 Hz) (44100 Hz) (44100 Hz).mp3

Now I've just recorded a new episode, and it's doing this for every single file. (About 50 minutes worth, 4 tracks. stopping and starting from time to time means there's a metric shitload of files)

I haven't changed any settings...

* Well if you must know:
