Pro Tools Recording Marker Misplacement

Hey, I've been using pro tools for a few years now and just recently, the red marker that indicates where my recording will start will move to the spot where i am when i hit stop. It used to be that when i placed the marker at a certain spot, it would stay there until i moved it. Im sure this is a simple solution, and id sincerely appreciate any help! thank you
 
Are you using OSX Lion by any chance? If so, it may be because of the sensitivity of the mouse or trackpad. They tend to be oversensitive in PT IMO after updating to Lion.
 
No, I think it is simply a setting in pro tools, I may have hit the shortcut to turn it on by accident, but i dont know how to turn it off. thanks
 
I think you're looking for the Insertion Follows Playback tool. It's right below the Pencil tool. I don't know what the keyboard shortcut is to turn it on, but I occasionally do it by accident too.
