Pro Tools and midi composition

Hey guys,

I'm new here

I was just wondering how well pro tools is compared to other DAWs in terms of midi composition.
I plan on working soley within the software itself, and am curious if pro tools would meet my needs.
I work on PC, and would rather not have any external equipment, less a midi keyboard and few other essentials.

I plan to orchestrate virtually using software such as Hollywood strings, and to make electronic music (IDM).

Would it be better to get a DAW that's compatible with VSTs?

Thanks

Pro Tools can work with VSTi's with a rapper. It is also great for MIDI composition contrary to the bad rap that it has gotten in the past. The one issue is that you are going to run into issues with performance with your virtual instruments. Programs like Cubase and Sonar are going to let you get more instruments going in your session (especially the East West ones) without crashing it. You also have freezing ability in those and not in Pro Tools that lets you add more without taking up the power of your existing instruments.
