Pro mixing tutorial for impact

In this pro mixing tutorial I am going to share a technique for impact.

The impact is in short in the mid range of a mix. Most mixes out there don't have enough impact and it is in most cases because the mid range is not loud enough compared to the lows and highs. A good rule of thumb is that for impact the mid range should be louder than both the highs and lows, 2 dB louder is a good starting point. A quick check of whether you have enough impact compared to a commercial hit mix is therefore to check whether you are near this type of LH-M ratio, most probably you are going to find out the mid range is way too quiet. That simply means that your mix is going to sound more dull and further back compared to a commercial mix, it is simply not going to stand out as a hit mix.

This is an argument for an arbitrary reverse "smiley face" EQ as a "pro" technique.
Give the idea all of the consideration that it is due...
